'Adipurush' new trailer shows a spectacular exchange between Ram and Ravan

Mumbai: The new trailer of the upcoming film ‘Adipurush’ was unveiled recently at Tirupati. The trailer is 2 minutes and 24 seconds in length and opens with Saif Ali Khan’s character of Ravan abducting Kriti Sanon’s character of Janaki as Prabhas’s Ram challenges Ravan saying: “Aa raha hoon nyaay ke 2 pairon se anyay ke 10 sir kuchalne (I’m coming for you to battle out the injustice with the justice).” It then presents a full blown saga of a battle. Raghav and the Vanar Sena embark on an extraordinary journey to bring back Janaki. The VFX however, comes across as a bit disappointing as the animated characters look far from real. The rotoscopy seems amateure and so does the rendering. What does stand out in the trailer and builds the anticipation is the terrific background score by the music director duo Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara, who have earlier delivered the background score of the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer 2019 blockbuster ‘War’. The trailer is laced with long dialogues that suit its universe but might not hold the audience’s attention for too long. ‘Adipurush’, directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, Pramod and Vamsi of UV Creations, is scheduled to release worldwide on June 16, 2023.

Adipurush Director Justifies Ravan's Look In The Film

• 0 share • WhatsApp • Share • Tweet • • Facebook Messenger • Scriptures, books, earlier TV serials and movies based on the ‘Ramayana’ have described the character of Ravan in a very different way than what has been shown in the Brahmin and part Asura. He was not just powerful and strong but was a scholar and had a brilliant intellect. He is also known to play the veena exceptionally well. Under his rule, Lanka was flourishing like it never did before. However, Ravan did have a temper and a massive ego. But he hasn’t been known to be a loud torturer, dressed in black leather, with a ghost-like appeal. But that is how he is shown in the ‘Adipurush’ teaser, making people draw parallels between Saif Ali Khan’s Ravan and Ranveer Singh’s Allauddin Khilji. Amidst the “Our Ravan in today’s time is demonic, he is cruel. The one who has abducted our Goddess Sita is cruel. We have shown what Ravan looks like in today’s time. This is not a film or a project for us. This is a mission for us. Our film is a symbol of our devotion and we need everyone’s blessings for this.” Om Raut “Ravan is a demon. In earlier TV shows, he was a cruel being so he was given a big moustache, and they showed him as a demon in those times. It was their artistic representation of what a demon would look like. Our Ravan is today’s Ravan. And if I were to imagine how he would look like today, this is what he would look like. I want to ask which Khilji sports a tilak or a tripund? Which Khilji wears a janeu (ho...

Om Raut is known for delivering a blockbuster in his last directorial, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior starring “Our Ravan in today's time is demonic, he is cruel. The one who has abducted our Goddess Sita is cruel. We have shown what Raavan look like in today's time. This is not a film or a project for us. This is a mission for us. Our film is a symbol of our devotion and we need everyone's blessings for this. Whosoever is speaking about the film are our elders. I am listening to all of them and taking note of everything. When you will watch the film in January 2023, I will not disappoint anyone,” Om Raut told Aaj Tak in an interview. Writer Manoj also echoed the same thought and said that his devotion for the film was such that he used to leave his shoes outside the office when he sat to write it. He said people have only watched a 1 minute and 35 seconds-long teaser in which Saif's Ravan is seen with a tripund (three horizontal lines on the forehead in the form of a tilak). On Lankesh's comparisons with Khilji, he said, “I want to ask which Khilji sports a tilak or a tripund? Which Khilji wears a janeu (holy thread) and rudraksh? Our Ravan sports all of these in the tiny teaser.” Soon after its release, viewers had compared the VFX in Adipurush teaser to that seen in recent releases like Brahmastra and earlier films like Ra.One and A Flying Jatt. The film will release in theatres on January 12 next year.

Adipurush controversy: Do we really know how Ravan looked like?

By Shubhi Mishra: It is quite safe to say that the internet rules over almost everything in this day and age. If you need even a sliver of attention on anything, just put it out on social media for the masses to see. There are some things that go so viral that they almost "break" the internet. Something similar was the impact of Om Raut's Adipurush. The film is based on the epic Ramayana and stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. Well, if you have grown up listening to the stories of Ram, Sita and Laxman, their long exile in the jungle, Ravan's abduction of Sita and his subsequent defeat and death, you might be able to join the dots. The teaser of Adipurush, launched on a grand scale in Ayodhya on October 2, went insanely viral online after being released on YouTube. But, unfortunately, the response was largely negative. Why, you ask? Well, the masses were not impressed and super dissatisfied with the "new-age", VFX-loaded appearances of the characters -- especially that of Saif Ali Khan's Lankesh, based on Ravan. Soon after the teaser was released, hashtags on Twitter started trending. You know the gist. A major chunk of the audience compared Lankesh's appearance to "Islamic invaders", Mughal emperors such as Alauddin Khilji and Aurangzeb and even Mongolian invader Genghis Khan. On the other hand, Game of Thrones fanatics compared Lankesh's Pushpak Vimaan (Ravana's chariot) to a Targaryen's dragon. Yes, you read that right! If you ag...
