History of amber fort

Amber Fort is located Amer is placed at a distance of 11 km from Jaipur city. Amber was the capital of the Kachhawaha till Jaipur was made the official capital in 1727. Amber is generally pronounced as Amer. It is situated about 10 km away from Jaipur on Jaipur-New Delhi road. It was governed by Kachawaha rulers and also was the capital of old Dhundar state of Jaipur. The town was originally named Ambikeshwara and was later abridged to Amber or Amer. Establishment of this fort was done in 16th century and was initiated during the reign of Raja Man Singh. Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder and the ruler of Jaipur city under his resign the fort was personalized. . Construction of the Fort was started by Raja Man Singh I in the year 1592. The Amber fort was built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century and was completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th Century. Amber Fort was completed within two centuries by consistence efforts of three consequent kings following Raja Man Singh. Initially, the palaces at Amber were constructred by Raja Bharmal in 1558 and his successor Raja Man Singh. Later on their descendents added some structures. Some of the structures get destroyed with the time and some of the structures changed. But most of the structure is preserved and is now maintained by the state government. The Glory of Amer Fort: History and Beyond Last Updated -- May 11th, 2022 Amber Fort, popularly known as Amer Fort or Amer Palace, is one of the historical monuments that speak of India and its powerful Rajput kings. Located in Amer Rajasthan, the Fort is named after the city. It spreads over 1.5 sq. mi atop a gorgeous hill that overlooks the town of Amer. It is one of the major tourist attractions in India. Some unique temptations for the eyes at the Fort are Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khaas, Sheesh Mehal etcetera. Amer fort is known by a very usual name by the locals. They call it 'Amer ka Kila" meaning "Fort of Amer". Originally built by Raja Man Singh and completed in 1592, Amer Fort continues to throw back the visitors to the bygone days when the Rajput kings ruled the place and revelled in comfort and luxury with their queens and extensive royal entourages. The architecture of the Amer Fort is greatly inspired by the Maota Lake that it overlooks. Coincidently, the lake is the only source of water for the Amer Palace. A very interesting thing about Amer Fort is that it is just located parallelly to Jaigarh Fort. The resplendent Amber Fort sprawls along the top of a natural hill outside the city of The historic hill fort rises above the town of Amer (it is sometimes called Amer Fort), which was the capital of the Kuchwaha Rajputs from the 11th to the 18th century. Construction began in 1592 by Maharaja Man Singh, a commander in the army of the Mughal emperor Akbar. In shades of honey and rose stone, white marble and gilt decor, Amber Fort is more of a palace than a fortress, and the design is a unique mix of Hindu and Muslim styles. A long, steep climb up to the fort takes visitors into a huge courtyard, Jaleb Chowk. Once through the ticket gate, there’s a lot to see in the palace complex as you move from one courtyard to another, each leading to more private and opulent chambers, plus temples, gardens, and terraces. The first is the many-pillared Diwan-i-Am, the Hall of Public Audience. From there, you enter through the beautifully painted Ganesh Pol (gate) to the private inner apartments of the fort. The Diwan-i-Khas includes an ornamental garden and the dazzling Sheesh Mahal, Hall of Mirrors. The walls of the Sheesh Mahal are covered in an intricate mosaic of shards of mirror and colored glass.
