Bangalore Metro Phase 3 – Information, Route Maps, Tenders & Updates Menu: Phase 3 Information Bangalore (Namma) Metro’s Phase 3 project is currently in the planning stage with routes totaling 105.55 km Pre-feasibility and techno-economic feasibility studies by RITES and BMRCL were prepared in 2016. List of Namma Metro stations

The first section (on Purple Line) of the Namma Metro system opened on 20 October 2011 between Baiyappanahalli and M.G Road. The system is operated by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). On 25th March 2023 a new purple line section from KR Puram to Whitefield (13.71 Km) with 12 new stations were inaugurated by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi. After the inauguration Namma Metro became the second longest metro system in India (69.6Km) after Delhi Metro. Each line of Namma Metro is identified by a specific colour. Bangalore Metro is locally known as Namma Metro which means, ‘Our Metro’, in Kannada. The metro was a huge project for the city of Bangalore and became the first underground metro to be constructed in the South of India. The green and purple line has been operational and serving the city of Bangalore. The metro lines and project was inaugurated in October 2011. The Namma Metro framework can be understood in terms of the phases and color codes. In total, there are 3 major phases for the project. Today, Phase 1 is the only operational metro line and consists of the Purple Line and Green Line. The Phase 1 metro line takes a length of 42.30 kilometres. However, residents feel that the Phase 1 metroline is not sufficient for a growing city. Hence, there are plans set for developing these two existing lines and initiating Phase 2, for further development of the metro. The entire infrastructure of the metro and its phases is being operated by an agency known as The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The system has a mix of underground, road level, and elevated stations using standard-gauge tracks. As of February 2023, the metro has an average daily ridership of 415,000 passengers. By 2023, the system is expected to complete its Phase 2 network and provide connectivity to the city’s important electronic hub and Whitefield. Services run daily from 05:00 to 23:00, varying between 4–20 minutes. These trains are made up of six cars (coaches). The power output is supplied by 750 volts direct current through the third rail.
