Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 10 (ANI): In view of a Statewide ‘bandh’ call by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other organisations over violence in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, workers of the outfit and those of BJP, which has lent support to the protest, have urged people to close their businesses on Monday. On Saturday, 22-year-old, Bhuneswar Sahu, was killed in a clash between two groups in the Biranpur village. Three police personnel were also injured in the incident. Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Maheshwari said, “Today a bandh has been called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal. An additional police force has also been deployed in all police stations. More than 400 police officers have been deployed in all the police stations, Extra patrolling is also being done.” “We’ve got information that they plan to hold a ‘chakka jam’ at three to four locations. RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh Bandh called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday to protest against the brutal murder of a 23-year-old youth in Bemetara district on Saturday has evoked mixed response from the public and trade bodies as well across the state. “We had called the Bandh from 11am to 2pm. However, our organization members have taken to the streets from 9am. Traffic across the state, Bemetara and Kawardha in particular, had come to a standstill,” said VHP state working president Chandrashekhar Verma. In Raipur, VHP members took out bike rallies in Shankar Nagar, Malviya Road, Gole Bazar and other major market areas to ensure shops and private offices remain closed. Most of the petrol pumps in Raipur were found closed. Similarly, Bajrang Dal and VHP led the protest in the twin cities Durg-Bhilai. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh BJP president Arun Sao is visiting Bemetara this afternoon to meet the family of Bhuneshwar Sahu who was killed during the violence. Raipur police have issued a helpline number (9479191099) for the help of the citizens. More than 400 police personnel have been deployed in Raipur in view of the bandh called by VHP and Bajrang Dal.
