Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The domestic indices, NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex, continued their upward trend for the second consecutive day, closing in positive territory. Nifty 50 recorded a gain of 118 points, reaching 18,716, while Sensex rose by 0.67% to settle at 63,143. Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: Continuing their upward momentum for the second day, the domestic indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex recorded gains, ending the day in positive territory. Nifty 50 surged by 118 points, closing at 18,716, while Sensex experienced a 0.67% increase, settling at 63,143. Nifty Realty shined in trade, recording gains of 3.06%, with Nifty Media rising 1.7%, Nifty Pharma added 1.12% and Nifty FMCG adding 1.36%. In the broader markets, Nifty Midcap 100 jumped 1.22% while Nifty Smallcap surged 0.7%. “USDINR CMP- 82.37 (spot) Indian Rupee appreciated by 8 paise today as inflation fell to a 25-month low. CPI inflation declined to 4.25% in May 2023 as compared to 4.7% in April 2023. Industrial production also rose unexpectedly by 4.2% in April 2023 as compared to 1.7% in the previous month. SENSEX, first compiled in 1986, was calculated on a 'Market Capitalization-Weighted' methodology of 30 component stocks representing large, well-established and financially sound companies across key sectors. The base year of SENSEX was taken as 1978-79. SENSEX today is widely reported in both domestic and international markets through print as well as electronic media. It is scientifically designed and is based on globally accepted construction and review methodology. Since September 1, 2003, SENSEX is being calculated on a free-float market capitalization methodology. The 'free-float market capitalization-weighted' methodology is a widely followed index construction methodology on which majority of global equity indices are based; all major index providers like MSCI, FTSE, STOXX, S&P and Dow Jones use the free-float methodology.
