The list of renowned bands competing for prizes and the coveted title of the 2022 Miami Carnival Steelband of the Year includes Metro Steel Orchestra, Lauderhill Steel Ensemble, New Generation Branches Steel Orchestra, Elite Pan Stars Academy, and Melo Groove Steel Orchestra. With a rhythm section in the Carnival Village kicking off the vibes for the evening to the anticipation and excitement of the epic special performances by Newtown Playboys Steel Symphony traveling in from Trinidad Tobago, as well as the Japanese Steelband WaiWai, this year’s Miami Carnival Panorama is a music-inspired family event not to be missed. Therefore, it holds great historical significance in music and is appreciated worldwide. “The momentum is here. We got a lot of positive feedback for Panorama’s return to Broward. Did Broward County Give Away Stadium To New Owner Of Jamaican Cricket Team?

The controversial move to give a foreign businessman control of the Central Broward Regional Park is proving to be a real sticky wicket for Broward taxpayers and Jamaican cricket fans. On July 22, a press release announced the Jamaica Tallawahs of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was sold to Worldwide Sports Management Group. The release stated Krishna Persaud is the founder and president of Worldwide Sports Management Group (WSMG). Persaud "runs KPC Properties LLC which is a real estate investment firm that has an extensive portfolio in South Florida….Persaud also sits on the board of directors of Oxbridge Reinsurnace Limited." News of the sale created controversy in Jamaica. Published reports stated the Tallawahs, reigning defending champions of the CPL, would be relocating to Lauderhill. ESPN News of the move upset Tallawahs fans as well as CPL officials. Any move would need to be approved by the Cricket sanctioning body. Also, Tallawahs may lose nearly $1.5 million in fees from the CPL if the team moved to Broward County. On August 1, Persaud and Worldwide Sports Management Group were in full damage control mode. On a Guyana news Persaud stated the "Tallawahs will remain the Jamaica Tallawahs." The release states Persaud "gave no indication that he plans to relocate the team to South Florida." Coincidentally, the Jamaica Tallawahs opened their season this weekend at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill. According to ESPN, the Tallawahs beat the Baraba...

Central Broward Regional Park was built in response to the need for more recreational opportunities in Central Broward. This 110-acre facility was built to serve 7 central Broward cities: Lauderhill, Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Oakland Park, Plantation, Sunrise, and Wilton Manors. Central Broward Regional Park is home to an international quality cricket stadium called the Main Event. Located on the corner of Sunrise and State Road 441, this central Broward park has been host to 2 International-level cricket games and a world cup qualifier game for the US Rugby team. Although the stadium was originally built only for cricket, the Main Event Stadium is now a multi-sport stadium that can also host football and soccer. There are multiple artificial turf practice fields including cricket, softball, and American football pitches. If you are looking for some unstructured family fun, you can hit the playgrounds, nature trail or the Tropical Splash Water Park. The water park is open seasonally, closing in the winter and reopening around March. It consists of 2 really fun interactive playgrounds for both small kids and big kids. The big kids water playground has a spiral slide, water guns, and a huge bucket that fills and dumps water. Paddleboats are available for rent on the weekends at the nearby marina. Tennis and basketball courts are lit and free to use. The park has a per person entrance gate fee (children under 5 are free) and the Tropical Splash area charges each pers...
