Will set up separate block of Shiv Sena: Rebel MLA Deepak Kesarkar

Guwahati: Asserting they are still part of the Shiv Sena, one of the rebel MLAs Deepak Kesarkar on Saturday said the dissident legislators would be setting up a separate block of the party. In a press conference here at Radisson blu Hotel where he has been camping along with 40 other rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, Kesarkar, speaking on behalf of the rebels and their leader Eknath Shinde, said they are still part of Shiv Sena, and aiming to take a different direction for which they have the desired majority. "At this point, we are not merging with any other party as we respect (Maharashtra Chief Minister) Uddhav Thackeray. We will be setting up a separate block," he told reporters. "If our faction does not get the recognition, to prove our numbers we will go to the court," Kesarkar said, adding the rebel MLAs won't quit the Sena rather will carry on the legacy of "Balasaheb". "This is nothing but a constitutional struggle. We are not leaving the ideology that Balasaheb lived on. We didn't do anything illegal or wrong." He also said there can be no Shiv Sena without Uddhav Thackeray. Referring to the incidents of attacks on residences and offices of the rebel MLAs in Maharashtra, Kesarkar said: ''We also want to tell the Chief Minister to fulfil the constitutional responsibility he has and ensure that the violence is stopped. The MLAs are not feeling safe to return as no stern action is being taken against the perpetrators." Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Satu...

Deepak Kesarkar: 'They know they have lost, so such desperate tactics'

Photograph: Deepak Kesarkar/Twitter Deepak Kesarkar is the Shiv Sainik who took on Narayan Rane and helped establish the Shiv Sena's sway over the Konkan. The Shiv Sena MLA from Sawantwadi spoke at length with Prasanna D Zore/ A Must Read Interview! Are the rebel MLAs taking Uddhav Thackeray's offer to resign as chief minister seriously and let Eknath Shinde replace him? How can we ( Eknath Shinde) get the post of chief minister if we don't want the support of the NCP ( Nationalist Congress Party) and Congress? The Shiv Sena doesn't have enough strength to form a government on its own. Do you feel Uddhav Thackeray will quit the Maha Vikas Aghadi and join hands with the BJP to form a government? I have humbly prayed at Sai Baba's feet that he quit the MVA. I visited the Sai Baba temple in Guwahati yesterday ( Thursday, June 23, 2022). Come what may, I never miss Sai Baba's darshan on a Thursday. People of Maharashtra elected us under the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance. There are reports of the Eknath Shinde camp getting the support of 50 MLAs. What is your current strength right now? There are 37 of us here who were elected under the Dhanushya Baan ( the Bow And Arrow, the Shiv Sena's election symbol). So, that is above the minimum two-thirds number required to save us from the clauses of the anti-defection law. Shinde ji has already submitted a ...

If Our Faction Isn't Recognised, Shiv Sena Rebel Deepak Kesarkar

Guwahati: The battle for control of the Shiv Sena has come down to who will carry forward the legacy of Bal Thackeray, the party's founder and the father of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Sena MLA Eknath Shinde, who Team Thackeray has pointed out as the ringleader of a group of nearly 40 rebel MLAs holed up at a hotel in faraway BJP-ruled Assam, has named MLA Deepak Kesarkar as the spokesperson of his new faction, which they have christened "Shiv Sena Balasaheb" to mean the "ideal Shiv Sena as envisaged by Bal Thackeray". The faction has demanded recognition, which can only come from the Election Commission. "We have the numbers, but we respect Chief Uddhav Thackeray and our faction won't merge with any other party," Mr Kesarkar told reporters today in Guwahati, where BJP sources have told NDTV that close aides of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are helping with logistics but not taking part in any internal discussions of the rebel Sena MLAs. "If recognition isn't given to our faction, we will go to court and prove our numbers," Mr Kesarkar said, adding the rebel MLAs won't quit the Sena but will carry on the legacy of "Balasaheb". On a question by reporters whether the Shiv Sena, and not the faction, is the one that has a direct link with the legacy of the Chief Minister's father and the faction would not be a true representation of the party, Mr Kesarkar said, "This is a constitutional struggle. We are not leaving Balasaheb's ideology. We didn't do anything wr...

Maharashtra cabinet expansion likely before Sunday: Kesarkar

The expansion of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra cabinet is likely to happen before Sunday, said Deepak Kesarkar, chief spokesperson of the Shinde-led faction of Shiv Sena, on Wednesday. With expansion awaited, CM Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis have been the only two members in the cabinet since the formation of the new government on June 30. Thackeray has been raising the issue in his rallies that he has been holding during his ongoing tour across the Konkan region. “There is a jumbo cabinet of only two people even as there is a flood situation in the state. They are not able to find the third deserving person even after one month’s time,” the former environment minister said during his Shiv Sanvaad On Wednesday, Kesarkar, though, said the “expansion of the cabinet is expected before Sunday”. Another coalition party leader said, “The Supreme Court verdict (on plea on disqualification of MLAs) is expected on Thursday. The decision on expansion will follow the court order and one can expect the expansion on Friday or Saturday.”

Soon, a panel for private school fee issue: Maharashtra minister Deepak Kesarkar

In view of increasing complaints from parents about self-financed or unaided schools charging exorbitant fees, the government has decided to appoint an expert committee to frame guidelines on whether these could be brought under its control and limits placed on their fees. Maharashtra: School education minister Deepak Kesarkar plans remedial coaching in schools

MUMBAI: School education minister Deepak Kesarkar on Tuesday said that the state will adopt a successful school education model that has been implemented in Kerala. Conducting exams at regular intervals and offering remedial coaching to students who are not doing well and testing them again, upgrading the syllabus every 10 years, and focusing on teaching in the mother tongue are some of the practices in Kerala. Kesarkar said that some of the best practices from other states, including Punjab and Rajasthan, can be adopted here too. During an interaction with the media, Kesarkar said that schools will now return to testing students from class III at regular intervals by holding unit tests, semester-end and final exams. With the 'no-fail' policy prescribed in the Right to Education Act, several schools were following grading systems and did not test students at regular intervals, said a teacher from an aided school. "While no-fail policy will continue, as failing students may lead to dropouts in schools, regular evaluation of students will bring in accountability," said Kesarkar. He said that schools in Kerala come under the gram panchayats. He mentioned that every school in Kerala has a library, which helps in inculcating the reading habit. "Many states are doing well in terms of education. While The state has already started the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), said Kesarkar. He said leading countries in the world are imparting education in their mothe...
