The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is in charge of the project and is responsible for deciding which companies will get construction contracts. The project is anticipated to cost Rs 13,000 crore, and the target date for its completion is December 2024. The expressway would be able to accommodate between 20,000 and 30,000 passenger vehicles daily and will have a minimum operating speed of 100 kilometres per hour. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the work on the under-construction Delhi-Dehradun expressway is going on at a rapid pace and that the project is expected to be completed by January next year. Dhami on Sunday (26 March) inspected the construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. He also took stock of the 340-meter-long Daat Kali tunnel and elevated section on the expressway from the officials of the National Highways Authority of India. Dhami instructed the executing agencies to finish the work on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway in Uttarakhand on time while ensuring quality. He said that NHAI will receive the support required from the Uttarakhand govt to expedite the work related to the expressway in the state. Permission has also been given to carry out work at night as well on the E-way. "This highway will help in reducing the travel time from Delhi to Dehradun to just 2-2.5 hours. In the coming time, tourists will easily be able to come from Delhi. The work is going on very fast and we [will] ensure that it is completed by January 2024," Dhami was ANI. Dhami added that the speed at which road connectivity is increasing in the Uttarakhand, it will give a major boost to economic activities in the state.
