Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max

Samsung is not upping the Galaxy S22 Ultra price from the $1199.99 starting level of its predecessor, so it again costs a Benjamin more than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Admittedly, you are getting way more in terms of specs than the price difference, what with a 10x periscope camera zoom or the S Pen silo, not to mention the much faster charging speeds. Samsung is playing Apple's clever game here, using more affordable Amperex battery cells and adding features to existing components in the S22 Ultra production mix to keep costs in check, so it would be hard for the 13 Pro Max to fight the phone on pricing basis alone. It will have to resort to the ubiquity and street cred of iOS devices in the U.S. to even things out. A more granular refresh rate control down to the single hertz hence more efficient display power consumption is also on board in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max can do a 10Hz-120Hz range. Its refresh rate control is a tad smarter, though, by adjusting the speed on the fly, including while you touch the display, so in terms of efficiency Apple's 120Hz implementation proved superior in our battery benchmark. At the Apple event last week, the Cupertino-based tech giant introduced the iPhone 14 series that includes four new models the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. While the Pro models get some of the major upgrades, the iPhone 14 is more like the iPhone 13 with just slight changes here and there. The iPhone 14 will be up for grabs in a couple of days from now, September 16 to be more specific, across various platforms. The question that comes now is should you buy the iPhone 14 or simply opt for the year old iPhone 13? Let’s find out the answer in 5 points. iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13? --If you are looking for some design changes here, you will be left disappointed. Apple has limited the design changes and introduced a “dynamic island” design only on the Pro models. The iPhone 14 looks just like the iPhone 13 with dual rear cameras and a wide notch on the front. --With every passing year, Apple introduces a more advanced chip. This year too, the company followed the same, but the new A16 Bionic chip is again limited only to Pro models, including the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and even the iPhone 14 Plus come with an A15 Bionic chipset with slight improvement in the gaming performance, as Apple claims. The A15 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 14 offers a 5-core GPU for boosted gaming performance, which isn’t the case for the iPhone 13. --The camera system is also the s...
