Shiv Sena minister Shambhuraj Desai said, "Our party has nothing to do with the adver...

He also tried to play down the matter of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' missing photo. "Photo may be there or not but both of us are in people's hearts and that is more important." Before the current CM joined hands with the BJP in June 2022, the slogan 'Narendra in the Country, Devendra in the State' was popular among the BJP followers. It is also not a secret that Fadnavis wasn't happy about having to cede the CM post to Shinde last year. The tagline of 'Modi for India, Shinde for Maharashtra' wouldn't have gone down well with him. On Tuesday, he cancelled his scheduled Kolhapur visit, apparently because he was upset over the ad. The official reason given was that he wanted to avoid air travel due to a problem to his eardrum. It was a move that has taken everyone by complete surprise. Even the most seasoned political watchers wouldn’t have been able to predict this turn of events, which developed on Thursday afternoon. And the swearing-in has not been left to any delay either. Shinde will take oath at 7.30 pm this evening at Raj Bhawan, and Fadnavis also announced that he will not be a part of the new cabinet that is likely to be sworn in in the coming week. Fadnavis further added that the BJP has decided to support “Shiv Sena Legislature Party leader” Shinde to “save Hindutva and serve the people of Maharashtra.” He highlighted that while the saffron party and Shiv Sena had contested the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections together as a pre-poll alliance, Uddhav Thackeray “backstabbed us and dumped the saffron unit in the lust for power.” Born in Maharashtra’s Satara on February 9, 1964, Shinde hails from the Maratha community. His family shifted to Thane in search of livelihood, and Eknath completed his education until class 11 at Mangala High School & Junior College, Thane. Even while in school, Shinde was reportedly influenced by the ideologies of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. He took a plunge into politics and joined the party as a Sainik, introduced by then Shiv Sena President of the Thane unit – Anand Dighe – in early 1980. He started his career as a la...
