Ethane to bromoethene

Initially, ethane undergoes free-radical brominationin the presence of UV light to give bromoethane. Bromoethaneundergoes dehydrohalogenationin the presence of alcoholic potassium hydroxide to give ethene. Further, ethene undergoes bromination with carbon tetrachloride as the catalyst to give 1,2-dibromoethane which is finally treated with alcoholic KOHto give bromoetheneas the product.
