Sunday lunch

Description: Relax in our Traditional Farmhouse Pub or Restaurant. The Farmers Arms is over 100 years old, and once served the now demolished Rhymney Brewery. Featuring Flagstone and Oak Floors with a huge stone fireplace and inset log burner. The pub benefits from a seperate restaurant with its own bar that doubles as a function room. We can cater for all social events. Recently refurbished and under new ownership since Sept 2016. New Chef starting October 2017. We aim to offer outstanding food, cooked from scratch in a relaxed unhurried atmosphere. We are extremely proud that we stand out as offering real food, that is made and prepared by our chef. Sunday lunch here was my first experience of the Farmers Arms. In my opinion they’ve got many things right. Good, friendly, nothing is too much trouble service. Spotlessly clean. Very tasty beef, veg and gravy. In fact the beef was better than some I’ve had at twice the price! However, with a couple of tweaks this place could be truly memorable. A Sunday lunch menu on the table or a blackboard. Decent paper napkins. Hot toast with the pate rather than three crackers of the ‘cheese n crackers’ variety. Of course reviews are incredibly subjective and I’m sure many wouldn’t be bothered by those perceived faults! Ultimately, I will definitely return to sample the evening menu. Well done to the owners and wait staff for bringing some much needed decent food to our part of the valleys! Visited here on Sunday 12th August 2018 - four...
