India has registered 3,641 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a day after logging its highest single-day tally in six months with over 3,800 infections. The latest figures tell that the Covid caseload over the past week has gone up at the fastest rate since the third wave that the country witnessed in January 2022. India logged a total 18,450 fresh Covid cases in the last week — March 26 to Arpil 1 — which is more than double than the tally of 8,781 that India registered in the week before that. The 2.1x rise in cases is the first time since the third wave that the doubling time of infections has reduced to less than seven days. The national capital this week recorded a steady rise in the number of fresh Covid cases while the positivity rate dipped progressively as compared to Monday, when it was the highest in over 15 months. Saturday (April 22) saw nearly 500 more fresh infections than Monday (April 17). Delhi logged more than 7,000 fresh covid cases this week. Delhi logs 1,017 new Covid cases in 24 hours, positivity rate at 32.25%

Delhi on Monday logged 1,017 Covid-19 cases, while the positivity rate jumped to 32.25 per cent, the highest in 15 months, according to data shared by the city government's health department.
