Not currently rated Ratings are calculated from one or more beacon scores. Currently, we require either an Accountability & Finance beacon or an Impact & Results beacon to be eligible for a Charity Navigator rating. Note: The absence of a rating does not indicate a positive or negative assessment; it only indicates that we have not yet evaluated this organization. See rating report below to learn why this organization is not currently eligible. We recognize that not all metrics and beacons equally predict a charity’s success. The percentage each beacon contributes to the organization’s overall rating depends on the number of beacons an organization has earned. Use the tool below to select different beacons to see how the weighting shifts when only one, two, or three beacons are earned. Mother Divine Program-Maharishi Global Country of World Peace Inc. cannot currently be evaluated by our Accountability & Finance methodology due to only having one year of electronically-filed IRS Form 990 data. But please note, that the IRS is significantly delayed in processing nonprofit's annual tax filings. That may mean that this entity has electronically filed additional Forms 990 but they have yet to be processed and made public by the IRS. To ensure year-to-year consistency the Encompass Rating System's Finance & Accountability beacon analyzes the three-year average of some data provided through the IRS 990. Interesting one! Raam was launched in October 2001 by “The Global Country of World Peace.” The GCWP is a non-profit organization based in the USA, and its headquarter is located in Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa. Raam is issued in three denominations, 1, 5, and 10 Raams. The currency was accepted in some places in the Netherlands and USA at that time. The Finance Minister of the Maharishi Movement, Benjamin Feldman, said that Raam could be proven to help eradicate poverty. He insisted that its use should be encouraged in agriculture. Raam is commonly known as Word Peace Bond. The Maharishi Movement said that it would strengthen World Peace, balance the economy and fight poverty at the same time. In Europe, it is equal to ten Euros while in the US it becomes ten Dollars. The currency was used to build peace palaces by the organization. Although the currency was first issued almost two decades ago, the present status of its circulation is not known, as no recent information on it is available online. There is no information that it is used widely at present outside the Vedic city, wher...

The 'Great Rethink' roils the world, passes us by

RUSSIA's invasion of Ukraine, the biggest land war of the 21st century and the century's biggest disruptor, has led to what policy experts call the "Great Rethink." What is covered by this rethinking are the most fundamental global arrangements: the geopolitical order reminiscent of the old bipolar order but with many tweaks and changes. Global trade. The global economy reordered by the war. Defense budgets, especially of countries with "peace constitutions" and wary of conflict. Reshaped alliances. The fragility of some alliances. The megalomania that unhinges autocrats. War as a driver of mass migration. And most recently, the so-called geoeconomic fragmentation. So many dictums and assumptions that had been presumed to last lifetimes and generations — like the long-held belief that the globalized nature of trade and deep interconnections are a deterrent to wars — have been cast aside, prey to Vladimir Putin's revanchist ambitions. Who would imagine that a country like Russia, which before Feb. 24, 2022 was deeply and inexorably connected to global trade, would risk cutting those extensive and expansive trade links with much of the world and invade a neighboring country without provocation? Where will the Russian oligarchs now get the Hermes and Gucci for their wives and mistresses? Who will now grant them landing rights for their luxury Airbuses and Gulfstreams? Putin, we can recall, hitched his economy to Europe's oil and gas purchases early in his presidency and for a...

Promoting More China

(Singapore) — The U.S. and China can build a stronger relationship through collaborating on areas such as the climate, structuring of multilateral development banks, and the strengthening of global capital markets, said former U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers at a Caixin-hosted business forum on Monday. “I think that the United States needs to reassure China that it is not our objective to hold China down economically, or to make it impossible for China to achieve economic power, strength, and global influence,” Summers said, emphasizing a need for “strategic reassurance” on both sides.

With Climate Crisis Generating Growing Threats to Global Peace, Security Council Must Ramp Up Efforts, Lessen Risk of Conflicts, Speakers Stress in Open Debate

9345TH MEETING (AM & PM) SC/15318 With the climate crisis generating an increasing threat to global peace and security, the Security Council must ramp up its efforts to protect the Organization’s peace operations around the world and lessen the risk of conflicts emanating from rising sea levels, droughts, floods and other climate-related events, briefers, ministers and delegates told the 15-nation organ. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, said most United Nations peace operations have faced a deteriorating security and political environment over the past several years. Alongside other cross-border challenges, environmental degradation and extreme weather events — amplified by climate change — have increasingly challenged missions’ ability to carry out their mandates. Across the board, the Department of Peacebuilding and Political Affairs and the Department of Peace Operations are striving to integrate climate considerations into their work, he continued. Since 2018, the Climate Security Mechanism — a joint initiative between those two Departments, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) — has provided multidisciplinary support to Member States, regional organizations and United Nations entities to better understand the linkages between climate, peace and security. He urged host Governments, development actors and the private sector to provide their support. “Together we can build a ...
