PUNE For Sunil Sadigle and his family it has become difficult to move out of their residential building after 5.30 pm , reason being the closed Gadital chowk flyover in Hadapsar. Sadigle resides in the bylanes that connect the flyover. Since the flyover is shut for vehicular movement, most vehicles that would usually pass through the main road, have now started travelling through the narrow internal lanes around Hadapsar. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has closed down the Gadital flyover bridge for the repair works since February 5. There are residential societies around, and the road is narrow, leading to traffic. More so, if a heavy vehicle is stuck at a turn, it leads to traffic jams that lasts for hours. There is complete mismanagement of traffic and all residents are suffering due to it. (REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO) The deceased man was identified as Rama Vitthal Adey (28), a resident of Sanketvihar in Kalepadal area of Hadapsar while the injured man was identified as Rahul Sanjay Kumbhar (24), also a resident of the same area. The incident happened around 11:05pm as the tanker driver failed to stop at the accident spot and fled leaving the three injured in front of a restaurant located in the Handewadi area located along the Mantarwadi road. The complainant and Kumbhar are grievously injured while Adey succumbed to his injuries. A complaint in the matter was lodged by Akshay Shinde (24), a resident of the same area as the two others. Shinde was the third person in the tractor and is also injured in the accident. The tanker was rash driving and came speeding towards the tractor and hit it from behind throwing all three men off the tractor, according to the police. A case under sections 279, 337, 304 (a) of the Indian penal code along with section sections 184, 132 (1) (C), 119/177 of the Motor vehicle act was registered at Hadapsar police station.

The police have taken possession of Chhaya’s body and sent it for post-mortem. The police have registered a case against the car driver and have started investigation into the incident. An engineer with Kirloskar Pneumatics Company in Hadapsar Pritesh Prakash Nikate (24) was knocked down by a speeding tanker at Sayyad Nagar in Hadapsar around 6.45 am on Saturday killing him on the spot. Nikate was a resident of Sayyad Nagar. Navaz Ahmed Patel,a resident of Sayyad Nagar-Mohammedwadi Road has lodged a complaint with the Wanavdi police. The Wanavdi police have arrested the driver of the tanker Bhanudas Gajanan Chavan (25) of Daund. According to the police,Nikate was going to his workplace on a motorcycle,when the tanker carrying milk knocked him down from behind. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The accident took place while the truck was trying to avoid hitting a bike in Utkarsh Nagar area of Hadapsar around 5.30 am, an officer said. An auto driver was killed and three persons in other autorickshaws were seriously injured in the accident. According to Senior Inspector Arvind Gokule, in-charge of Hadapsar police station, the mixer truck initially hit a very heavy tree in an attempt to avoid hitting a bike. “But after impacting the tree, the mixer truck turned on its side and crushed three rickshaws. Four persons were seriously injured. One autorickshaw driver succumbed to injuries later. Others are being treated at a hospital. We deployed three heavy lift cranes to take the heavily damaged truck and other vehicles off the road,” said the officer who added that the traffic on the road was affected for some time due to the accident.
