India vs Australia Highlights, WTC Final 2023: India 164/3 at stumps on Day 4, need 280 runs on final day

India vs Australia Highlights, WTC Final 2023: India 164/3 at stumps on Day 4, need 280 runs on final day Virat Kohli remained undefeated on 44 as India reached 164 for 3 at stumps on fourth day after Australia set a huge 444-run target in the final of the World Test Championship. Kohli and first innings hero Ajinkya Rahane (20 not out) added 71 runs for the fourth wicket as India need to score 280 runs in 90 overs on the final day. Shubman Gill (18), skipper Rohit Sharma (43) and Cheteshwar Pujara (27) were the batters dismissed. Earlier, Australia declared their second innings at 280 for 8 with Alex Care scoring 66 not out and Ravindra Jadeja taking three wickets. Read Less I think we have the runs on the board, always look for more wickets, but they played well (on Rahane and Kohli). We'll have another chance tomorrow. Looked good to me (on the Green catch), we were happy and the right decision was made. It's not great to see them scoring at 6 rpo, but we pegged them back, quick wickets does help and we'll look for more tomorrow. I thought Mitch (Starc) played beautifully, attacked at the right moment and took the pressure off me. A tricky little period in the morning and we got over well. Class players (Kohli and Rahane), this is a good partnership, we need to remain patient, hit the right areas and hopefully the wickets will come. Australia's Alex Carey after day's play That's it! Stumps on Day 4. Nathan Lyon completes the final over of the Day. A solid fight from the...

4 Aussie players who were part of the 2015 ODI World Cup winning squad, the 2021 T20 World Cup winning squad and this Test Championship winning squad: Think it's Warner, Smith, Starc, Cummins. Marsh was in the two white-ball squads, but here he was only a reserve. Andrew McGlashan with this super stat. All through their tour of India earlier this year, they might have been dreaming of this. They needed to win one of those four games to make it to The Oval. They did. And in conditions that suit them, they have been UNDENIABLY the better side. They become the first team to win all four ICC trophies - the ODI World Cup, the T20I World Cup, The Champions Trophy and now the Test Mace. India fell behind in the first innings, giving away 469, but they hung in there from that point all the way through to the fifth day which dawned with hope. They were 164 for 3 with Kohli and Rahane in the middle of a 71-run partnership at really good time. All that fight should not go unnoticed. Through this two year cycle, they have played some excellent Test cricket. But when it came down to the biggest moments - that first day when they gave away over 300 runs - and today when they had to see off the first session, they fell short. So 234 all out. A collapse of 7 for 70 in one session's play. Those numbers will dominate coverage, but they shouldn't take away from the fight that got India to the final day with hope. In 2018 Virat Kohli disrobed himself of all pretension that he was a great batt...

This was India's second defeat in successive WTC finals after losing to New Zealand in 2021 in the inaugural edition. Chasing an improbable target of 444, India started the day at 164 for 3 but soon lost batting mainstay Virat Kohli (49), followed by Ravindra Jadeja (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (43) to be bowled out for 234 in 63.3 overs. Scott Boland (3/46) was the best bowler on view as he removed Kohli and Jadeja in a single over to decisively end the contest and the rest was formality. Nathan Lyon (4/41), however, had the best figures as he mopped up the tail in a jiffy. ( India vs Australia Live: Here's what Mitchell Starc after the winWe were patient enough against a quality line-up, and managed to get the breakthroughs needed. Rub off the green went our way, a smart catch from Smith and to get Kohli early on was a big boost. He played well in the first innings (about Rahane), was a nice partnership as well, we knew if we stick to our task we...

India vs Australia Highlights, WTC Final: AUS beat IND by 209 runs, become 1st team to win all major ICC tournaments

India vs Australia Highlights, WTC 2023 Final Day 5: India's wait for an elusive ICC title extended as they were humbled by Pat Cummins and Co. by 209 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval on Sunday. India, who needed 444 to win in the second innings, were bundled out for 234 with Australia wrapping the contest in the opening session of the play on final day. Australia dictated the proceedings from Day 1, with Travis Head and Steve Smith knocking a century each to drive Australia to 469 in the first innings. The top-order failed to put a show and a gritty 89 by Ajinkya Rahane, with vital contribution from Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja helped India save the follow-on. India showed signs of comeback in the second innings but a 93-run stand between Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc powered them to 270/8 before declaring the innings. Chasing 444, India reached 164/3 at the close of play on Day 4. Scott Boland then gave Australia the perfect start on the final day as he got rid of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja in the same over. Kohli was caught at slips by Steve Smith for 49, while Jadeja was caught-behind for duck. Rahane then played a few shots before he was removed by Mitchell Starc for 46. Shardul Thakur, who scored a half-century in the first innings, failed to open his account this time. The wickets kept tumbling and it was Nathan Lyon, who inflicted the final blow to seal the match for India. Catch the Highlights of India vs Australia Live Score,...

India slumped to 71-4 thanks to two pretty rotten leaves from Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara and some moments of magic from the Aussie seamers. The ball from Mitchell Starc to dismiss Virat Kohli was particularly special.
