( , the 15th edition of the tournament, began on March 26 and will run till May 29) MUMBAI: Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening game of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede stadium on March 26. KKR won the season-opener by six wickets. IPL 2022 will be played across four venues -- Wankhede Stadium and Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai, DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai and Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune. “A total number of 70 league matches and 4 playoff games will be played in the duration of 65 days,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a media release. TATA IPL 2022 got underway from March 26 with defending champion Chennai Super Kings taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. There will be a total of 12 double-headers this season. While the first match will start at 3.30 PM IST, the second will begin at 7.30 PM IST.
