Lalu Prasad Yadav Biography Lalu Prasad Yadav is an active politician from Bihar. He is the President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and former Chief Minister of Bihar. He also served in as Minister of Railways during UPA government. During his education in Patna University, Lalu Yadav jumped into the student politics. He was elected as then youngest member of the Lok Sabha in 1977 as a Janata Party candidate at the age of 29. He became Chief Minister of Bihar in 1990, but resigned in 1997 because of corruption charges in Fodder Scam. In 2013 Lalu Yadav was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and ?25 lakh fine for his involvement in the first Fodder Scam by CBI court. He was convicted in third fodder scam also. In second fodder scam he was sentenced with 3.5 years of imprisonment. He was found guilty in third fodder scam case. CBI Court convicted him in the fourth fodder scam case which is related to swindling of Rs.3.13 crore from the Dumka treasury. In this case total Rs 60 lakh fine imposed on Lalu Yadav along with 14 years of imprisonment. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav turned 76 on Sunday with his party deciding to celebrate the day as ‘social justice and sadbhavna diwas’ ( social justice and harmony day) by organising mass lunches for the poor at the district and block level as well as blood donation camps, said party functionaries. NEW DELHI: In a veiled attack on two former railway ministers, “We have seen reports in media about a cash for job scam in a state. Investigations have exposed a serious scam of cash for jobs in a state, which is a matter of great concern to the youth of my country,” the prime minister said in a virtual address after distributing 70000 job letters under the Rozgar Mela. The prime minister further said, “If you want a government job, then there is a rate card for every post. The poor are being looted through rate cards. The rate is fixed for each post. If you want the job of a sweeper then there is a different rate for that, if you want the job of a driver then there is a different rate for that. If you want the job of nurse, clerk or teacher then there is a different rate for that. For each post, the rate card runs in that state and cut-money runs. "The manner in which they showed negligence and didn't show alertness led to such a large number of casualties," Yadav said. Deciding the fate of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Tuesday a special CBI court convicted the RJD supremo in the final fodder scam case. Embroiled in large-scale embezzlement of public funds case worth Rs 950 crore, Yadav was ordered convicted in the fourth fodder scam case on March 24, 2018, wherein he swindled a sum up to Rs 3.13 crore from the Dumka treasury. In the preceding case, Yadav's predecessor Jagannath Mishra had been acquitted by a Ranchi court in Jharkhand. Yadav was sentenced to 14 years in prison and slapped with a total fine of Rs 60 lakh, has secured bail in the four cases related to Dumka, Deoghar and Chaibasa treasuries. New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, who were grilling former Union Minister Lalu Yadav in land-for-jobs case on Tuesday were asked to maintain adequate distancing and use masks during questioning with the latter as he had recently underwent a kidney surgery in Singapore. “Lalu Yadav has kidney transplanted recently and it is necessary to maintain sufficient distance and wear mask because Lalu Yadav is at risk of infection and allergy,” sources told ANI.
