Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has increased its stake in leading IT Software company, Tech Mahindra to 8.88%, according to its BSE filing. With today's development, this is 81 basis points more than 8.07% stake it held in Tech Mahindra as on March 31. Meanwhile, LIC share and Tech Mahindra share witnessed a rally of 0.59% and 0.90%, respectively. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) share price fell 3 per cent to Rs 810 apiece on BSE on Tuesday, after the insurance company reported a loss of 18 per cent on-year in standalone net profit at Rs 2,371.55 crore for the three months to March 2022. The board of LIC has recommended a dividend of Rs 1.50 per equity share with a face value of Rs 10 each for the year ended March 31, 2022. LIC stock has been witnessing continuous selling pressure since listing. “Investors having a long-term perspective, should continue to hold onto the stock, given the growth potential of the insurance sector in the country in the coming years and LIC in particular given its leadership position in the sector,” Aamar Deo Singh, Head Advisory, Angel One, told FinancialExpress.com. SBI to raise Rs 50,000 crore in FY24 The stock has fallen more than 15 per cent from the issue price. “We may see more down-side movement in the price ahead of the negative secondary market sentiments. LIC To Hold Roadshows In Hong Kong, UK In June

A year after the listing of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India, the insurance behemoth will hold international roadshows, beginning in Hong Kong later this month. The non-deal roadshows of LIC are scheduled between June 25 and June 29, sources said, adding that the meeting will also be held in the United Kingdom (UK). These roadshows are aimed at creating awareness among global investors post-listing of LIC shares, the sources said. It has been a little over one year since LIC was listed on the stock exchanges. The non-deal roadshows will offer investors a comprehensive look at the company's story. It also aims at fostering effective communication between the executive team and investors. According to the sources, the top management of LIC will interact with global investors through a series of meetings spread over five days and highlight the strength of the company. The management will urge the investors to invest in LIC scrips as the company has huge potential, the sources said. Last year, the government raised Rs 20,557 crore by diluting its 3.5 per cent stake in the LIC through the initial public offering (IPO), the country's biggest ever. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) share price jumped 3.72% to Rs 615.65 today after the insurance behemoth reported a more than five-fold jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 13,191 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2023. LIC IPO was the largest ever public issue in India with an issue size of Rs 21,000 crore. Investors had high hopes from IPO, but LIC stock’s downfall started with its debut. LIC stock listed with an 8% discount at Rs 865 on May 17, 2022. Over one year has passed since then and the stock is still down 35% from the IPO price of Rs 949 per share. Despite strong quarterly results, the pressure still remains on the stock as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget this February provided a higher impetus for individuals to shift to the new tax regime, which does not favour tax exemptions on investments in insurance schemes. The proposal has come as a big blow to the insurance sector and has caused investors to reconsider its growth prospects, forcing them to stay side-lined.

LIC Listing Price: LIC shares list at a discount

Synopsis Over 5.15 crore LIC shares were traded on Tuesday as against the free float of 16.24 crore shares, excluding shares allotted to anchor investors. Retail investors were allotted shares at ₹904 apiece, a discount of ₹45, or 4.7%, on the issue price. Policyholders were given the shares at ₹889, a discount of ₹60, or 6.3%, on the issue price. Over 5.15 crore LIC shares were traded on Tuesday as against the free float of 16.24 crore shares, excluding shares allotted to anchor investors. Retail investors were allotted shares at ₹904 apiece, a discount of ₹45, or 4.7%, on the issue price. Policyholders were given the shares at ₹889, a discount of ₹60, or 6.3%, on the issue price. "While LIC debuted at a slight discount to its issue price, investors should not look to exit at current levels and hold the stock from a medium- to long-term perspective," said B Gopkumar, MD, Axis Securities. "Its sustained market leadership position, robust pan-India distribution network, and shifting focus towards profitable products will make LIC an attractive pick from a long-term perspective."
