Bayern took the lead in the first half through Sadio Mane's header after he got on the end of Joao Cancelo's cross. Borussia Dortmund took their chance to go top of the league when they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 later on Saturday. Ajorque equalised for Mainz after he headed home from close range when Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer couldn't keep hold of Lee Jae-sung's effort. Barreiro slotted past Sommer after getting on the end of Karim Onisiwo's pass before Caricol sealed the victory as he finished into the bottom corner from Andreas Hanche-Olsen's lay-off. Mane, who returned to the starting line-up following suspension , also had an effort ruled out for offside following a VAR check. 17 Ajorque • 27 Zentner • 25 Hanche-Olsen • 16 Bell • 20 Fernandes Substituted for Hack at 83' minutes • 30 Widmer • 8 Barreiro • 31 Kohr Booked at 60mins Substituted for Stach at 64' minutes • 19 Caci Substituted for Martín at 45' minutes Booked at 57mins • 9 Onisiwo • 7 Lee Jae-sung Substituted for Barkok at 77' minutes • 17 Ajorque Substituted for Ingvartsen at 77' minutes Substitutes • 1 Dahmen • 3 Martín • 4 Barkok • 6 Stach • 11 Ingvartsen • 21 da Costa • 37 Burgzorg • 42 Hack • 44 Weiper 25 Müller 17 Mané • 27 Sommer • 44 Stanisic • 2 Upamecano • 4 de Ligt • 6 Kimmich Substituted for Gravenberch at 75' minutes • 22 Cancelo • 8 Goretzka • 42 Musiala Substituted for Gnabry at 80' minutes • 19 Davies Substituted for Mazraoui at 9' minutes • 25 Müller Substituted for Tel at 75' minutes ...

A week after winning the Bundesliga title with games to spare, FC Bayern suffered their fifth defeat of the season away at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday (3-1). "Defensively, we were not sharp enough to stop their chances," head coach Julian Nagelsmann said, summing up the game. Here's reaction from the Mainz game from both sides. Reaction from the Bayern camp: Julian Nagelsmann:"Mainz did well, created many chances and deserved to win. I think we always need a certain basic level of desire in a game. We didn't have that today. That's a bit human when you've just won the league. But nevertheless, we still wear the Bayern crest on our chests. We'll review the defeat. Actually, we had a good structure with the ball and could have created more chances. Defensively, we weren't sharp enough to prevent their chances." Joshua Kimmich:"The performance today should give us food for thought. Of course, we won the league last week. Nevertheless, this has happened to us far too often this season. We have to analyse this so that it doesn't happen again in the next two games and, in particular, next season." Reaction from the Mainz camp: Bo Svensson (Mainz head coach):"It was a very good performance. We got off to a good start, but didn't score from our big chances at first. But we kept going and deserved to lead 2-0. It's clear that Bayern are always capable of scoring a goal. In the second half, we had to survive a tricky phase, but we made it 3-1 at the right time. That was the key. All...

Bayern Munich suffer shock 3

MAINZ, Germany, April 22 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich slumped to a 3-1 loss at Mainz 05 on Saturday, conceding all three goals in a span of 14 minutes to drop to second place in the Bundesliga, behind Borussia Dortmund, with five games left in the season. The Bavarians, eliminated by Manchester City in the Champions League last eight on Wednesday, could not have imagined a worst afternoon after going 1-0 up courtesy of Sadio Mane's 29th minute header at the far post. Bayern, chasing an 11th straight league crown, are on 59 points, one behind Dortmund, who crushed Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 to take control of the title race. Despite having more than 70% of possession for more than an hour, Thomas Tuchel's Bayern, who have now won just two of their last seven matches under the former Mainz coach, were unable to carve out any more chances. "We don't feel any energy any more," Tuchel said. "Too much has happened to this team and it struggles to bounce back when things don't go its way. "It is brutally difficult to develop a spirit as a team to fight back. We struggle to win matches. We had the game under control but did not score a second goal. We are not focused enough." Bayern were punished for sloppy defending in the 65th after failing to clear the ball repeatedly and keeper Yann Sommer punched it straight on to the head of Ludovic Ajorque who only had to nod in for the equaliser. Another defensive error by Josip Stanisic allowed Leandro Barreiro to slot home and put the hosts in...
