Mangrove forest pondicherry

The day we(wife & me)went to pichavaram only we were there from time we reached till we finished boating. I think there will be more people on Sunday. I am not sure about the safety part for two female travellers so will not comment on it but will recommend you to go to pichavaram on a Sunday. Don't exactly remember the bus charges from pondicherry to chidambaram or chidambaram to pichavaram but for one way tickets I think it will not cost more than 100 rs per person from pondicherry to pichavaram.

My son wanted to see mangrove forest ,it was not feasible for me to go to 70 km away at chidambaram, we went to will boat house it is the best alternative, I wait for other passengers, after getting 7 passengers with me the boat trip of mangrove forest and one historical island cost 1900 to us i.e. 271/- per person. It is just 6 km from rock beach(can be covered by activa). Great to see mangrove forest without wasting time to go to chidambaram (70 km away from pondicherry) Hayo I loved this place to see and enjoy over there. The people who go there my request to use private boat over there. Because private boat will go to the place where we say and they will extend our time and we can enjoy in our own way. Please hire private boat to visit mangrove forest. We went in private boat, he traveled in the high density tree way. It was an awesome experience for my as well as my family. World 2 largest Mangrove Forest in the world (in area) . one can go in a motor boat or a self driven boat. TAT is there like 40 min or 1 or 2 hrs, pricing depend upon choice of boat n timing but i would say pricing is genuine. Natural beauty dense forest try to go into narrow deep in forest then one will feel scary. We were completely spellbound by the boat ride through the lesser known Pichavaram which is the second largest mangrove forest in the world. There are speed boats and also rowing boats which take you to the mangrove. Would say this is a must visit if on trip to Pondicherry since it's just 80 kms away. Visiting during the early hours of morning or in the evenings would make the ride better owing to the heat. But once inside the mangroves, it's pleasant and definitely an experience to remember for life. Boating starts at 8 am to 5 pm.
