AP MLC Election Results: Counting of votes for graduates and teachers MLC elections under way in Andhra Pradesh

VISAKHAPATNAM: Counting of votes for Graduates and Teachers MLC constituency is under way across Andhra Pradesh. The results of three graduates MLC constituencies and two teachers MLC constituencies would likely come out after Friday afternoon. The process of counting was started at 8 am on Thursday for Kurnool-Anantapur-Kadapa Teachers and Graduates MLC constituencies and Chittoor-Nellore-Prakasam Graduates and Teachers MLC constituencies, besides North Andhra districts Graduates MLC constituency. Ballot papers were bundled in packs during the counting of votes in all counting centers. This process had taken almost seven to eight hours. Strong rooms were opened in the presence of returning officers. Counting agents of candidates were allowed inside the premises after completion of frisking at the entrance of the counting centres. The counting started in the evening and there are six to seven rounds. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh Graduates MLC election has 767 postal ballot votes of which, 582 votes were polled. But officials declared 228 votes invalid. A total of 37 candidates in the contest of North Andhra graduates MLC elections. The counting started at 7.30 pm on Thursday on 28 tables for six rounds. The voting percentage was increased to 69.47% after the completion of the entire process. Earlier authorities announced that the polling percentage was 59.77% at 4 pm on March 13. Election fever has gripped the six districts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) after the release of the MLC election schedule for the biennial elections to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council scheduled to be held on March 13 to elect 13 MLCs, including one from the NCAP Graduates’ Constituency. As per the schedule, Election Commission of India (ECI) will issue the notification on February 16. Last date for filing of nominations is February 23. Scrutiny of nominations is February 24. Last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 27. Polling will be held on March 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Counting of votes will take place on March 16. Early last year, YSR Congress Party had announced Sitamraju Sudhakar as its candidate, while Telugu Desam Party (TDP) recently announced Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao as its candidate. As part of this, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the names of candidates for the MLC polls keeping in mind social justice by ensuring political, social, and economic empowerment of the Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Minorities, he said.
