The spry 88-year-old former prime minister arrived in the United States on May 18 for his deposition in the libel suit he has filed against Hersh and went through a whirlwind schedule in his characteristically cantankerous fashion. Flying into Chicago two days later, Desai gave his pre-trial deposition behind closed doors, with only his and Hersh's lawyers present. According to a report from Chicago, Desai arrived precisely at the appointed minute for the hearing at the offices of the law firm, Coffield and Slavin.
