The ruling party plans to launch its poll campaign from September 15 in the constituency, which is likely to witness a bitter triangular fight. Treating it as a battle of prestige, the TRS will be leaving no stone unturned to achieve Mission Munugode to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from winning another by-election. After wresting Dubbak and Huzurabad from TRS in 2020 and 2021 respectively, the BJP is keen to score a hat-trick of by-poll victories. The contest in Munugode is being see as a semi-final by the major players ahead of the next year’s Assembly elections. The seat fell vacant with the resignation of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who has switched loyalties to the BJP. Hyderabad: Former MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy claimed on Friday that by resigning as Munugode MLA, the government awoke from its slumber and that the issue of a new mandal formation was resolved. Speaking to the media in Munugode, he stated, “with my resignation, it is proven that the state govt functions only when there is a by election, my resignation did not go waste, it led to many good developments.” He went on to say that with the Munugode by-elections around the corner, the state govt has announced an increase in pensions as well. He claimed that when the Nagarjunsagar bypoll was held, the TRS govt distributed Rs 20 lakh to each village in the district but ignored Munugode.

Hyderabad, Nov 1 (PTI) Curtains came down on campaigning for the November 3 by-poll to the Munugode Assembly constituency in Telangana on Tuesday which turned violent earlier in the day with a clash occurring between ruling TRS and BJP workers. Several people were injured in the clash at Palivela village and the two parties made allegations against each other for the incident. TRS MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy complained to the Munugode Returning Officer and also police alleging that “BJP goons and workers” attacked TRS activists.
