New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India on Friday announced the nominations for the “Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award” (TNNAA) would be closed on June 16, 2022. TNNAA is conferred by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to recognize the achievements of persons associated in the field of adventure and encourage young people to develop the spirit of endurance, risk-taking, cooperative teamwork and quick, ready and effective reflexes in challenging situations. The award consists of a bronze statuette, a certificate, a blazer with a silken tie/a saree and award money of Rs 15 Lakh. The Awards are presented to the winners along with Arjuna Awards by the Government of India. Usually, one Award is given in four categories namely, Land Adventure, Water (Sea) Adventure, Air Adventure and Life Time Achievement for adventure activities on Land, Sea and Air. Achievements for the last 3 years are considered for the 3 categories namely Land Adventure, Water (Sea) Adventure, Air Adventure and for Life Time Achievement award, the achievement of the entire career is considered. Any person having excellent performance and having outstanding qualities of leadership, a sense of adventure discipline and continuous achievement in one particular field of adventure viz. Colonel Amit Bisht to be conferred with National Adventure Award

UTTARKASHI: Colonel Formerly known as the Tenzing Nirvah National Adventure Colonel Bisht, along with six-other awardees, will be felicitated by the President of India in an award ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 13. In his twenty-year-long mountaineering career, Colonel Bisht, in his forties, has scaled 35 peaks, including 20 unscaled and unnamed peaks, both nationally and internationally. Recently, he also scaled Mount Everest, the world's highest peak.

National Outdoor Award

The National Outdoor Award program recognizes Scouts for some above-average participation in challenging outdoor activities. A combination of merit badges, rank, and activities qualify Scouts for hiking, aquatics, camping, adventure and riding awards. The five National Outdoor Awards badges recognize a Boy Scout or Varsity Scout who demonstrates knowledge and experience in camping, hiking, aquatics,riding, or adventure. Scouts earning the National Outdoor Awards badges have demonstrated that they are knowledgeable, safe, and comfortable in the outdoor activity covered by the badge. The six National Outdoor Badges recognize a Scout, Sea Scout, or Venturer who demonstrates both knowledge and experience in camping, hiking, aquatics, riding, conservation, and adventure. Scouts earning the National Outdoor Badges have demonstrated that they are knowledgeable, safe, and comfortable in the outdoor activity covered by the badge. Outdoor activities completed as part of any BSA program (Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Sea Scouting, Venturing, or Exploring) may be used to satisfy the requirements of the National Outdoor Awards so long as conducted as part of an approved unit, district, or council program. This is referred to as "under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America" in the requirements. When the first badge is earned, the scout receives the center patch and earned segment.
