Battle of the Asian Tigers? HK and S’pore shouldn’t buy into the myth There has been an ongoing narrative that Hong Kong and Singapore are embroiled in a “winner takes all” competition to be the leading business hub of the region. Dr Woo Jun Jie, Senior Research Fellow from the Institute of Policy Studies at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, notes that while the two cities may draw comparisons as strong financial centres, they are powered by vastly different strategies and enabling conditions.
