NAESP’s National Distinguished Principal® (NDP) program honors outstanding elementary and middle-level principals who ensure that America’s children acquire a sound foundation for lifelong learning and achievement. Each year, NAESP congratulates principals from across the nation, in both public and private schools, and overseas, for their exemplary achievements. Program Background The NDP program was established in 1984 to recognize elementary and middle-level principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for the students, families, and staffs in their learning communities. The program was based on three fundamental ideas: Selection & Criteria Each year, NAESP recognizes Pre-K through grade 8 principals from across the nation, as well as principals in U.S. private schools and those from the United States Departments of Defense Office of Educational Activity and the United States Department of State Office of Overseas Schools. Public school elementary and middle-level principals are nominated by peers in their state, and final selections are made by committees appointed by each of NAESP’s state affiliate offices. Aryan, along with two others, was apprehended from the Empress ship off the coast of Mumbai on Sunday following a raid on a rave party. Aryan has been arrested under Section 8(c), 20(b), 27 and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (DPS), 1985. Section 8(c) of NDPS Act The section prohibits the production, manufacturing, possession, selling, purchase, transport, warehouse, use, consumption, inter-state import and export, import to and from India or tranship of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance, except for medical or scientific purposes, and requires a licence or permit by the concerned authorities. Section 20(b) of NDPS Act Under Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act possession of cannabis is a punishable offence. Whoever, in contravention of any provisions of this Act or any rule or order made or condition of licence granted thereunder — cultivates any cannabis plant, or produces, manufactures, possesses, sells, purchases, transports, imports inter-State, exports inter-State or uses cannabis, shall be punishable. There will be rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to ten years and will also be liable to a fine which may extend to Rs 1 lakh.
