In March this year, a screenshot of a video call between The Night Manager actors, Tom Hiddleston and Aditya Roy Kapur, went viral after the latter shared it on his social media. Ever since, fans have been anticipating a crossover of sorts between the British and the Indian versions of the crime thriller. And seems like it’s no longer an impossible dream especially since John le Carré, David Farr and Susanne Bier served as executive producers on both the versions. In an exclusive chat with News18, creator and director of the Indian adaptation of The Night Manager, Sandeep Modi, hints at a possible crossover. Speaking about their plans of bringing characters from both the versions of the series, he tells us, “It absolutely is. We’re working on something and once that happens, maybe a crossover can come alive soon. We’re wishing for the same.” Aditya Roy Kapur video calls the OG Night Manager, Tom Hiddleston. A while back, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas also hinted at a Citadel crossover. But now with the revealation that she will play the onscreen daughter of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan in the Indian spin-off of the spy thriller, only time will tell if their timelines will coincide. However, the demand for an Indian face cross-pollinating with those in the West is at an all-time high. EXCLUSIVE: A second season of smash John le Carré adaptation Under the codename Steelworks, Deadline understands Season 2 will film later this year in London and South America. Although it is yet to be formally greenlit by Amazon and the BBC, we hear that it is set to receive a two-season order. David Farr, who wrote the original, is back to write Season 2. Penned by Farr and directed by Susanne Bier, the first season also counted Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki and David Harewood amongst an impressive cast roster. Winning two Emmys and three Golden Globes, it followed Pine, the night manager of a luxury Cairo hotel and former British soldier who is recruited by the manager of a Foreign Office taskforce to infiltrate Roper’s inner circle. The first season was one of the top-rated UK dramas of that year, aired on AMC in the U.S. and spawned a number of subsequent le Carré adaptations from The Ink Factory — which is run by le Carré’s sons Simon and Stephen Cornwell — including Little Drummer Girl starring Florence Pugh. The Hindi adaptation of The Night Manager starring Aditya Roy Kapur as Pine and Anil Kapoor as Roper Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content) distributes The Night Manager and has a minority stake in The Ink Factory.
