The Indian Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, has announced the NIRF Rankings 2022 for all Indian colleges, today, 15 July. The National Institute Ranking Framework or NIRF, was rolled out by the government for the first time in 2015. The rankings of higher education institutions were usually conducted by private organizations, especially news magazines, before NIRF’s launch. After being voluntary in the first few years, participation in the NIRF became mandatory for all government-run educational institutions in 2018. More than twice as many institutions took part in NIRF this year as in 2016. Rankings are determined based on five criteria: teaching, learning, resources, research, graduation outcomes, outreach, and perception. It identifies the best institutions from 11 different categories – universities, colleges, medical, engineering, management, law, pharmacy, architecture, dental, and research.
