Odisha Train Accident: At least 288 people lost their lives and more than 1,000 others were injured after a horrific train tragedy in Odisha's Balasore district on Friday evening. The collision involved three trains – Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday visited the accident site to take stock of the rescue operation and met with injured people at hospitals in Cuttack. He was briefed by the Railway Minister as well as officers of the disaster management teams. PM Modi also said strong action would be taken against anyone found guilty in the train crash and no one would be spared.

Odisha Train Accident: 'Broke Window, Jumped Out Of Coach', Says Survivor

A triple train collision happened at Bahanaga Bazar station in Odisha's Balasore district involving 12864 Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which was running about 3 hours behind its schedule. The rear coaches of the train got wrecked, and passengers fell off their berths as the lights went off. 635 passengers of the unaffected 17 coaches reached Howrah on Saturday. The arriving passengers received medical treatment and food aid. A survivor claimed how he saved himself by breaking windowpanes and jumping out of the compartment. Some of them discussed witnessing serious injuries and deaths in the accident.
