HYDERABAD: Launching the third meeting of G20 health working group (HWG), Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy stated on Sunday that India is among the top 10 countries in the world in health tourism. Addressing the gathering in Hyderabad, the minister highlighted the significant impact of India’s traditional systems and said: “Indian civilisation has given us ayurveda which is a five-thousand-year-old medical practice. Similarly, yoga is today popular across the world to improve physical and mental health.” Talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a hub of medical travel, Kishan Reddy said that India is today home to affordable and reliable healthcare. On the major role played by India during Covid-19 pandemic and Hyderabad being the vaccine capital, he said, “India is the centre of many health-related researches.” He added that by 2030 India plans to come up with universal health coverage. The HWG discussions will have three major priorities. One, to be able to meet health emergencies (prevention, preparedness, and response) with courses on healthcare and antimicrobial resistance. Two, strengthening cooperation in the pharma sector for availability and access to safe, effective and affordable medical countermeasures (vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics). Hyderabad, Jun 10 (PTI) The Centre is bringing in many novel changes to encourage the agriculture sector in the country and to benefit the farmers, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said on Saturday. The budget for farmers has seen a massive increase since 2014 when UPA was in power, he said. “The Central government is providing encouragement, like never before since Independence, to make it profitable for farmers,” Reddy told reporters here. “As part of that, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Sinchyaee Yojana, Kisan Credit cards to all sections of farmers, soil health cards have been introduced,” he said. While the agriculture budget of the country was Rs 21,933 crore in 2014, it rose to about Rs 1.25 lakh crore now, he said. He said 11 crore people across the country have been given Kisan credit cards, while 23 crore soil health cards have been provided to farmers. The country used to import cooking oils worth Rs one lakh crore per year and the Centre took many steps to reduce that, he said. He highlighted the major decisions and progress in various aspects of agriculture, including the recent hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP). He also said a revolution has happened with regard to fertilisers in the country during the incumbent NDA government compared to acute shortage of fertilisers earlier. Farmers registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana have till March 25 to update their e-KYC on the PM Kisan website. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 to the farmers every year. This assistance is given in installments every four months. To avail benefits of this scheme, farmers can register themselves on the PM Kisan Scheme Portal. The central government has released 10 instalments under this scheme. In January 2022, the 10th instalment of the scheme was sent to the account of farmers through direct benefit transfer.
