By Divya Bhati: The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has become increasingly popular in India in recent years. It offers a convenient and secure way to make payments for goods and services. There are many popular payment gateways available and Google Pay is one of them. It allows users to make UPI payments using their bank account, debit card and now even from select credit cards. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) initially allowed users to make UPI payments using their bank accounts. However, it has recently collaborated with Google Pay and enabled integration of RuPay credit cards with UPI. This integration allows users to make payments using their credit card, just by scanning the merchant's QR code, without having to carry their card with them anywhere. RuPay has announced that this feature is now accessible to all RuPay credit card holders from prominent banks such as Axis Bank, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Union Bank of India. The bank will make 'Positive Pay System' (PPS) mandatory from April 4. As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, PNB had introduced PPS for cheques of Rs 50,000 and above presented in 'CTS' clearing from January 1, 2021, which will now become mandatory from next month for the cheques of Rs 10 lakh and above. The system, developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), mandates a customer issuing the high-value cheque to reconfirm some essential details which are cross-checked while presenting the cheque in clearing before payment.
