The Queen of Jhansi, Rani Lakshmibai, fought against the British colonial rule. Born in 1828, Rani Lakshmibai’s name was Manikarnika Tambe. She received training in shooting, horsemanship and fencing at the court of the Peshwa, where her father Moropant Tambe was based. When Manikarnika got married to the King of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao Newalkar, in 1842, she was named Rani Lakshmibai. After the death of her husband in 1853, she led a battle against the British army in 1857 and ultimately died in 1858 due to the injuries sustained in the battle. स्वतंत्रता सेनानी के रूप में रानी लक्ष्मीबाई की भूमिका झांसी की रानी लक्ष्मीबाई के शौर्य और साहस की गाथा कौन नहीं जानता। 1857 की क्रांति से शुरू हुई स्वतंत्रता की लड़ाई में रानी लक्ष्मीबाई ने अंग्रेजो का डटकर सामना किया और अपने जीते जी अंग्रेजों को झांसी पर कब्जा नहीं करने दिया। जब भी लोगों की जुबान पर रानी लक्ष्मीबाई का नाम आता है तो सुभद्रा कुमारी चौहान की लिखी हुई पंक्तियां याद आ जाती हैं- बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुंह हमने सुनी कहानी थी। खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झांसी वाली रानी थी। इन पंक्तियों को पढ़ने मात्र से ही शरीर में उत्साह और देशभक्ति की भावना जागृत हो जाती है। स्वतंत्रत भारत में आज महिलाओं के जिस सशक्तिकरण की बात की जाती है, लगभग 160 साल पहले रानी लक्ष्मीबाई और अन्य महिला स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों ने महिला सशक्तिकरण की नीवं रखी थी। महिलाओं के लिए रानी लक्ष्मीबाई से अधिक पड़ा महिला सशक्तिकरण का प्रेरणाश्रोत कोई नहीं हो सकता। रानी लक्ष्मीबाई का परिचय-: लक्ष्मी बाई का जन्म 19 नवंबर 1828 को वाराणसी जिले में हुआ था। बचपन का नाम मणिकर्णिका होने के कारण घर वाले उन्हें मनु नाम से संबोधित करते थे। उनके पिता मोरोपंत तांबे मराठा बाजीराव की सेवा में थे। जब लक्ष्मीबाई मात्र 4 वर्ष की थी उनकी माता भागीरथी सप्रे का निधन हो गया था। सन 1842 में मनु का विवाह झांसी के राजा गंगाधर राव निंबालकर के साथ हुआ। विवाह के पश्चात मनु का नाम रानी लक्ष्मीबाई कर दिया गया और लक्ष्मी बाई झांसी की रानी लक्ष्मी बाई के नाम से जाने जाने लगी। 1851 में रानी लक्ष्मीबाई और गंगाधर राव को रत्न की प्राप्ति हुई परंतु यह खुशी अधिक समय तक नहीं रुक सकी, चार महीने बाद ही लक्ष्मी बाई के पुत्र की मृत्यु हो गई। गंगाधर राव के...
