After spending the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the sidelines as the batting coach, Kieron Pollard is set to make his return as a player for the Mumbai Indians franchise, albeit in a different league. Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Thursday, 29 December announced that Rashid Khan will lead the team in T20Is. This will be Rashid's second full stint as captain of the Afghanistan cricket team. Rashid has previously captained Afghanistan from September to November 2019, where he led the side to four wins out of seven, which included a series win over then defending T20 Champions West Indies.
