Story of Sant Dnyaneshwar

Saint Dnyaneshwar born: 1275 Samadhi: 1296 Sant Dnyaneshwar is a famous 13th century Marathi saint. The deity of the Warkari sect. Saint Dnyaneshwar was born at Apegaon near Paithan in Aurangabad district. To help the common people understand the Bhagavad Gita, Dnyaneshwar translated the commentary on the Bhagavad Gita under the name Bhavarthadipika which is popularly known as Dnyaneshwari. Bhavarthadipika was translated by Dnyaneshwar at Nevasa in Ahmednagar district. At the age of 21, he took Sanjeevan Samadhi at Alandi in Pune district. Saint Dnyaneshwar was born to a Kulkarni couple named Vitthalpant and Rukminibai. Nivruti was his elder brother and his younger siblings were Sopandev and Muktabai. His father Vitthalpant had left Grihasthashram and accepted Sannyasashram. But again accepted the Grihasthashrama as ordered by the Guru.
