Vice President of India is the second highest constitutional office in India and has been held by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu since 11 August 2017. The Vice President is also the ex-officio chairperson of the Rajya Sabha.

As per Article 68 of the Constitution of India, an election to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of the term of office of the outgoing Vice-President is required to be completed before the expiration of the term.

Ram Nath Kovind, (born October 1, 1945, Paraukh, Uttar Pradesh state, India), Indian lawyer and politician who served as president of India (2017– ).
