The Khilji dynasty was a Muslim dynasty of Turkic origin. It was founded by Jalaluddin Firuz Khilji and became the second dynasty to rule the Delhi Sultanate of India. The dynasty is known for their faithlessness and ferocity. Khiljis were vassals of the Mamluk dynasty (Slave dynasty) of Delhi and served the Sultan of Delhi, Ghiyasuddin Balban.



The Khilji or Khalji dynasty ruled from 1290 to 1320 CE after overthrowing the Slave dynasty, thus becoming the second dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate. They were Turko-Afghans who came from Afghanistan with Muhammad Ghori. Khaljis were the vassals of the Mamluk dynasty of Delhi. The founder of the Khilji dynasty was Jalaluddin Khilji (1290-1296).

Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri has passed away in Delhi at 8:30 pm Friday. He was 87. Maulana Umri was president of Jamaat e Islami Hind for consecutive three terms ( 2007-19). Maulana Umri was born in 1935 in a village called Puttagram, District of North Arcot, Tamil Nadu, British India.



Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umri, former president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, and a renowned Islamic scholar, author of more than two dozen books, is no more.
