T20 World Cup Group Stage points table: Sri Lanka, Namibia, Scotland and Bangladesh seal Super 12 spots

The T20 World Cup Group Stages involving eight teams in two groups got underway on October 17 in the UAE. Former champion Sri Lanka topped Group A with three wins. Namibia finished second in the group with wins over Ireland and Netherlands. On the other hand, Scotland topped Group B with six points. Bangladesh finished second with wins over co-host Oman and Papua New Guinea. ALSO READ | Bangladesh and Sri Lanka moved to Group 1 of the Super 12 stage alongside England, South Africa, West Indies and Australia. Scotland and Namibia will feature in Group 2 that comprises India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. The Super12 stage will begins in the UAE on October 23. T20 World cup points table The seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup kicked off with a clash between Oman and Papua New Guinea in Oman on 23rd October. At first, eight teams divided into two groups compete in the Round 1. Group A consists of Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Namibia. Group B consists of Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Bangladesh and Oman. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 12 stage which consists of eight teams already qualified. Those eight teams are divided into two groups. Group 1 consists of England, Australia, South Africa and West Indies along with two qualified teams from Round 1 (A1 and B2). Group 2 consists of India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan along with two qualified reams from Round 1 (B1 and A2). Each side will play all the other teams in their group. Every side will play a total of 5 games in the league stage. The top four teams (Two from each group) at the end of Super 12 league phase will qualify for the semis. During the league stage, two points are awarded to a side for a win and one in case of a washout. West Indies have been the most successful team in the T20 World Cups with two trophy wins.
