'Mediocrity Retained': Venkatesh Prasad Slams Indian Management For Dropping Ishan Kishan

Even though Ishan Kishan recently scored the fastest-ever double hundred in the ODI series against Bangladesh, seems like it wasn't good enough to merit him a place in the series against Sri Lanka. While explaining the management's decision to go ahead with Shubman Gill instead of Ishan Kishan, captain Rohit Sharma on the eve of the 1st ODI in Guwahati said: "It is unfortunate that we won’t be able to play Ishan, but it is fair to give Gill that run looking at how things have panned out in the last 8-9 months." However, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad does not seem impressed by this justification. He slammed the management for not giving Kishan a place in the side even after scoring a double century. "Think fair would have been to give chance to a man who scored a double hundred in India’s last ODI, and in a series where India lost two games and the series. Have all the time in the world for Gill, but no way you drop a player for scoring a double ton," Prasad wrote in a Tweet. "There is a reason we have underperformed in Limited overs cricket. Constant chopping changing and a guy who does brilliantly and is an X factor is dropped and mediocrity retained," he said in a Twitter thread. In Eng, Pant scored a hundred in the final ODI and helped India win the series. However based on T20 form was dropped from ODI team. KL Rahul on the other hand barring a couple of innings has failed consistently but retains his place.Performance is not the foremost parameter. Sad— Venkates...

The India vs New Zealand WTC Final is just three days away from getting underway. Ahead of the exciting contest, cricketing pundits, as well as, fans have been sharing their views about the team combinations and making their predictions. Venkatesh Prasad opens up on bowling attack India should play with Former Indian speedster Venkatesh Prasad also recently opened up on the bowling attack India should go ahead with for the India vs New Zealand WTC Final. While speaking to PTI, Prasad said that spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja alongside three fast bowlers seem to be the best combination. He added that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma have the experience of playing in different conditions and they know their roles very well. He reckoned that the strategy is very simple as to who can make use of the new ball better. Prasad opined that both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have got an amazing seam position and great control over line and length. The veteran speedster stated that he is surprised that Ishant Sharma is considered number three even after playing 100 Tests. Prasad reiterated that the Delhi-based pacer has a lot of experience of playing county cricket in England, which is why India should opt to play with him. Prasad also went on to reveal how India's current bowling attack varies from his playin...

'Keep seam

Venkatesh Prasad knows a thing or two about bowling in England. Though he couldn't play more than three Tests in that part of the world, which was tailor-made for his craft, the former India pacer gave enough evidence of his mastery of the conditions with 15 wickets in five innings against the hosts between 1996 and 1999. As India look to lay their hands on the World Test Championship mace, they know their pace unit has a crucial role to play for it to be realised. Prasad has a simple advice for the seamers, especially the two certainties in Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj - bowl seam up at good length or back of length and maintain the fourth-stump line on the off. Sounds quite simple but only if it was so. Read | Prasad, however, feels both Shami and Siraj can manage this task looking at the way they bowled in the just-concluded Indian Premier League. Shami earned the Orange cap for the highest number of wickets while Siraj was the top wicket-taker for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Prasad's observation, on the face of it, may sound quite paradoxical because he is basing his logic on T20 cricket in Indian conditions and extending it to Test cricket in England. Both the formats and the conditions are as different as chalk is from cheese. But Prasad, who watched and commentated on each game the two pacers played in the IPL, has a strong reason to believe so. "If you look at both Shami and Siraj, even in the IPL they were bowling those Test-match lengths," Prasad tells DH. ...

He has scored 6 overseas centuries but followed it up with a string of low scores that's why averaging 30," Prasad had said on Monday, with a graphical representation of Rahul's stats. Let's look at a few others On Tuesday, Chopra countered, suggesting it's the Karnataka batter's numbers in SENA countries that have earned him the support of the team management. "Indian batters in SENA countries. Maybe, this is the reason selectors/coach/captain are backing KLR. He's played 2 Tests at home (ongoing BGT) during this period No, I don't need a BCCI role as a selector/coach I don't need any mentor, coaching role at any IPL team either," Chopra said, while sharing the stats of Rahul in SENA countries. Venkatesh Prasad Likes Old Video Of Ex India Opener With Suniel Shetty Amid Twitter Tussle Over KL Rahul

"I am not saying KL Rahul will become like The comments did not gone down well with Prasad and he took on the former India opener on social media. "So my friend Aakash Chopra after making a vile video on YouTube this morning where he calls me an agenda peddle, conveniently and cleverly misquotes me, removes Mayank's average of 70 at home, wants to gag views which are not in line with what he believes but wanted Rohit out," Prasad wrote in a series of tweets. So my friend Aakash Chopra after making a vile video on YouTube this morning where he calls me an agenda peddle, conveniently and cleverly misquotes me, removes Mayank's average of 70 at home, wants to gag views which are not in line with what he believes but wanted Rohit out Later, Chopra invited Prasad for a video chat, however, Prasad declined the offer by tweeting: "No Aakash, nothing is lost in translation. In your 12 minute video you have called me as an agenda peddler because it didn't suit your narrative." No Aakash, nothing is lost in translation. In your 12 minute video you have called me as an agenda peddler because it didn't suit your narrative. It is crystal clear. And I have made my points very clear in this Twitter thread. Don't wish to engage with you further on this Now, it has come to notice that on Tuesday, Prasad had also liked an old video of Chopra with Suniel Shetty, who is KL Rahul's father-in-law. In the video clip, Chopra can be heard calling Shetty as his big brother.
