Zimbabwe was set 272 to win with 49 overs left on the final afternoon, but never seriously chased its target and was comfortably placed for the draw on 83-2 in the 23rd over before spin bowlers Gudakesh Motie (4-50) and Roston Chase (2-9) sent late flutters through the home dressing-room. A draw had seemed the most likely result when rain hampered the start of the test with only 89 overs possible on the first two days after West Indies had opted to bat. Stuart Broad: West Indies series omission saved Test career Captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul set a new West Indies record of 336 runs for an opening test partnership on day three before declaring on 447-6. Zimbabwe replied with 379-9, including an unbeaten 137 on debut from former England left-hander Gary Ballance, before they declared late on day four. The visitors were 21-0 overnight and on the last day sought t...

ZIM vs WI 2023, Test Schedule: Full Fixtures List & Match Timings

West Indies will play a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe starting February 4. Here is the complete schedule, including match timings for ZIM vs WI. The West Indies lost their most recent Test assignment away to Australia. They were thoroughly outplayed and never seemed likely to pull off an upset. Their overall fortune, however, has not been as ordinary of late in Test cricket. Prior to the Australia tour, they had blanked Bangladesh 2-0 and, before that, beaten England 1-0 in a three-match home series. It remains the last Test series England have lost till date. They will hope to translate their home form when they travel to Zimbabwe and clash with them over two Tests. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will relish the opportunity of playing a Test series against the West Indies in the Clive Lloyd Trophy. They have not played any Test cricket since losing to Bangladesh by 220 runs at Harare in July 2021. Prior to that, they had also hosted Pakistan for two Test matches. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite will hope to continue his good run of form. Jermaine Blackwood has been appointed as the vice-captain, and the middle order batter will have a key role to play. Jason Holder and Roston Chase will also be crucial in the middle order and will add stability to the batting unit, while also doubling up as wicket-taking options. Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who made his Test debut in Australia, will be eyeing another solid outing. The Test series will begin on February 4, with th...

Day 2 report: Captain Kraigg Brathwaite and fellow opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul started the second day in their 50s and finished it with centuries as West Indies advanced to 221-0 against Zimbabwe in the first test with rain again limiting play. Only 38 overs were bowled Sunday as the visitors resumed their first innings on 112-0 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Brathwaite (116 not out) and Chanderpaul (101 not out) each resumed on 55 and reached their tons with relative ease. It was his 12th test ton. “Kraigg is a guy who values his wicket, he doesn’t give it away,” Chanderpaul said. Zimbabwe spin bowler Wellington Masakadza (0-30) said his side is still in the game, despite the challenging bowling conditions after West Indies chose to bat first on Saturday. “It’s always difficult to bowl first in Bulawayo, but we will get better tomorrow,” Masakadza said. “I thought we bowled well, same as yesterday. We just weren’t lucky enough, we missed outside edge, and balls falling short. But we didn’t let them get away, which is a big positive in test cricket.” Both games of the two-match series will be in Bulawayo. The West Indies lost 2-0 in Australia in its last series in December and interim coach Andre Coley is in charge of the te...
