ONGC Q3 Results 2023, Dividend: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) shares declined Rs 0.95 or 0.64 percent on Wednesday trading session and stood at Rs 147.50 apiece on the BSE. On Tuesday along with the announcement of Q3 earnings, state-owned explorer ONGC declared a second interim dividend to its shareholders for the current financial year 2022-23. “The Board of Directors has declared 2nd interim dividend at the rate Rs.4 per equity share of face value of Rs 5/- each i.e.@ 80 % for the Financial Year 2022-23. As informed vide letter dated 09.02.2023, Friday, 24.02.2023 has been fixed as Record Date for determining the eligibility of shareholders for the payment of the said Interim Dividend. The dividend will be paid to the eligible shareholders on or before 16.03.2023,” the state-owned oil & exploration company said in a BSE exchange filing on Tuesday. The corporation's revenue from operations rose to Rs 38,583 crore in the December quarter, a hike of 35.5 percent jump as compared to Rs 28,473 crore in the same quarter a year ago. The rise in the net profit and revenue of the ONGC was mainly due to the higher prices of gas under the administered price mechanism (APM).

Further, ONGC has fixed February 24th as the record date for determining eligible shareholders for dividend distribution. The ex-dividend date will be the same as the record date due to the settlement type 'T+1' option which the stock exchanges follow with effect from January 27, 2023. Simply put, the 'T+1' settlement type means all trades in the equity segment will be settled within 24 hours. Shareholders whose names will appear on the Register of Members of the company or in the records of the Depositories by end of February 24, will be eligible for a second interim dividend. ONGC will pay this dividend to the eligible shareholders on or before March 16, 2023. This is in addition to the first interim dividend of ₹6.75 per share(135%) declared earlier in November last year. On BSE, ONGC shares closed at ₹148.45 apiece broadly flat compared to Monday's print of ₹148.15 apiece. The company's market cap is over ₹1,86,754 crore. At the current market price, ONGC's dividend yield is at 7.07%. In FY22 alone, the company paid a total dividend of 210% aggregating to ₹10.5 per equity share to its shareholders. During Q3 of FY23, ONGC earned a standalone net profit of ₹11,044.73 crore up by 26% from a profit of ₹8,763.72 crore a year ago same period. Standalone revenue from operations came in at ₹38,583.29 crore in Q3FY23, up by 35.51% from ₹28,472.91 crore in the same quarter last year. ONGC pays Rs 5K cr dividend to govt; CPSEs pay Rs 23,797 cr

With this, the total dividend received by the government from Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) in current fiscal stands at Rs 23,797 crore. As per guidelines, CPSEs need to pay minimum annual dividend of 30% of profit after tax (PAT) or 5% of net worth, whichever is higher. ONGC had earlier paid Rs 2,408 crore in divdend to the government on October 6, 2022. So far, oil companies including BPCL paid Rs 690, GAIL Rs 226 crore and IOL Rs 307 crore as dividend. The government has received Rs 1,223 crore from Coal India and Rs 1,487 crore from NTPC this fiscal. In 2020, DIPAM advised CPSEs to follow a consistent dividend policy and strive to pay higher dividends taking into account factors like profitability, capex requirements, cash and net worth.
