My brief encounter with the legendary Yezdi Model B

BHPian MVM recently shared this with other enthusiasts. Any vintage artefact has an irresistible charm of its own. My love for vintage bikes helped me find a kind old man who graciously allowed me to ride his pride and joy. A man who had owned this bike for the last 44 Years. The bike in question was a 1978 Yezdi Model B 250. (Just the name "Yezdi" gives me goosebumps.) I had expressed my love for Yezdis previously on Team BHP After realising that a Yezdi is not the best first bike especially when I wanted my first bike to give me a trouble free experience I decided to purchase a Hero HF100. But the Yezdi bug never died. The sight of a Yezdi always excited me. But I decided to stay an admirer from afar. Believe me when I say that I love my HF 100 very much but it is no Yezdi. Around 2 weeks back I was speaking to one of our family friends when he revealed to me that he had requested his uncle to allow me to ride his Yezdi. I was surprised and overjoyed at the same time. I was surprised that a man who had owned and loved his bike for the last 44 years was allowing a stranger to ride it. That is something I would've been reluctant to do if I was in his place. After going to uncle's house we began chatting about his experiences with the bike and discussed all the minute details. He told me that he had done over 1lakh trouble free kilometres on the Yezdi. Uncle reminisced about how he used to get the points tuned and go on rallies with the bike. The bike was bone stock except ...

Yezdi makes a comeback with 3 new models priced from Rs 1.98 lakh

Classic Legends has today revived the iconic Yezdi brand with the launch of three new models called the Roadster, Scrambler and Adventure. The Roadster is priced between Rs 1.98 lakh and Rs 2.06 lakh, the Scrambler costs between Rs 2.05 lakh and Rs 2.11 lakh, and the Adventure is priced from Rs 2.10 lakh to Rs 2.19 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). • 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine for all All three models are powered by a 334cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine, but each gets it in a different state of tune, with slightly varying power and torque figures. Similarly, each bike also has a unique chassis, with different suspension and wheel sizes, among other distinctions. In terms of features, all three bikes get an LED headlight and tail-lamp, as well as fully-digital LCD instrumentation. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. Yezdi Adventure The Adventure features long-travel suspension (200mm at the front and 180mm at the rear) and is the only bike here to get a monoshock. It also has a healthy 220mm of ground clearance, and it’s no coincidence that all these figures are identical to those of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Like the RE, the Adventure rolls on a 21-inch/17-inch wire-spoke wheel set-up. It gets three ABS modes – road, rain and off-road – with the last one presumably disconnecting ABS at the rear wheel. The Adventure is the only Yezdi to feature Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, which it implements through its un...

Farokh K. Irani and Rustom S. Irani introduced the Czech company Jawa to India. The brand was given the Indian name Yezdi. The bikes from the company quickly gained cult status among Indians thanks to their excellent handling and strong engines. The Yezdi Roadking is this cult's main component. After bringing back Jawa and BSA to India, the Classic Legends have also brought back the Czech brand Yezdi Bikes In India. Up until 1996, Yezdi sold many motorcycles around the nation, including the Roadking, Delux, and Monarch. Yezdi Bikes: A Guide to Their Different Models and Features

Click here When you check the latest bikes online, the Yezdi bike price might come across as being on the higher side. Ignore this aspect to research further on this brand, and you will have stepped into the iconic world of Yezdi bikes that ruled the bike scene in India for several decades. Their legendary past notwithstanding, currently the Yezdi brand offers three models, namely Roadster, Scrambler and Adventure, under the flagship of their parent company, Mahindra and Mahindra. For the unversed, ‘Yezdi’ is the phonetic variant of a Czech word ‘jezdi’ which in English language, translates to ‘rides’. Down the Memory Lane Launched in 1973 by its parent company Jawa, Yezdi took the Indian bike market by storm at a time when people had to contend with foreign brands. Being the first of its kind in India, Yezdi bike caught the people’s imagination and instantly soared to popularity. To make the most of its fame, the parent firm introduced several models in quick succession. While these may have become obsolete during the 1990s, they still exist as part of retro bike clubs and feature in two-wheeler rallies. Popular Yezdi models that dominated the motorcycle segment during the latter half of the 20 th century were – • Yezdi Roadking , which intended to emulate the Royal Enfield Bullet, and weighing 140 kg, it immediately hit a cord with the target market due to its impressive acceleration; • Yezdi Oilking , which was meant as an improved successor of the R...
