Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord

Mass Propers for the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord: Entrance Antiphon, Heb 10:5, 7: The Lord said, as he entered the world: Behold, I come to do your will, O God. Gospel Verse, Jn 1:14ab: The Word of God became flesh and made his dwelling among us; and we saw his glory. Preface: The Mystery of the Incarnation: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For the Virgin Mary heard with faith that the Christ was to be born among men and for men's sake by the overshadowing power of the Holy Spirit. Lovingly she bore him in her immaculate womb, that the promises to the children of Israel might come about and the hope of nations be accomplished beyond all telling. Through him the host of Angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence for ever. May our voices, we pay, join with theirs in one chorus of exultant praise, as we acclaim: Communion Antiphon, Is 7:14: Behold, a Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name will be called Emmanuel. COLLECT PRAYER Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord: O God, who willed that your Word should take on the reality of human flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary, grant, we pray, that we, who confess our Redeemer to be God and man, may merit to become partakers even in his divine nature. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. show Blog & Podcasts...

Saturday, 25 March 2023 : Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord (Homily and Scripture Reflections) – petercanisiusmichaeldavidkang

Liturgical Colour : White Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today the whole Universal Church celebrates the occasion of the great Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, marking the moment when the Archangel Gabriel came to Nazareth, to the then periphery of the Jewish world and community, to a young woman named Mary, whom God had chosen to be the one to bear the Saviour of the whole world, His promised Messiah or Christ, the One Whom we would come to know as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Lord, Saviour and Master. On this day of the Annunciation, the Archangel Gabriel came to Mary to proclaim the long-awaited Good News of salvation which the Lord had promised His people, all of us, from the very beginning of time. It was truly the end of the long wait for the coming of the fulfilment of God’s many wonderful promises and assurances that He has made through His many prophets and messengers. This Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord must be understood as the moment when the Lord became Incarnate in this world, just as the Archangel Gabriel himself mentioned that the Lord would send the Holy Spirit to overshadow Mary, and through that, the Son of God would be conceived in her womb, taking up the nature, appearance and existence of our humanity, becoming the Son of Man, the Divine Word Incarnate. That is why this Solemnity of the Annunciation is celebrated this day, exactly nine months to the date of Christmas, signifying the nine months of the period of pregnanc...

It was the beginning of one of the A janitor directed Hogg and several other classmates to hide in a closet. Not knowing if he'd make it out of the classroom alive, Hogg leaned on what he had learned in his TV production classes, and began recording with his phone. "I interviewed my classmates so that if we didn't make it out of there, hopefully our voices would carry on, and it wouldn't be possible for the NRA and gun lobby to say, 'Oh, you can't talk about this. You're politicizing this,'" Hogg says. Seventeen people were murdered that day, and 17 others were injured. Soon after, Hogg and several other students created more than 800,000 people gathered with the group at "We came out of Parkland saying 'never again' over and over. ... That was our original hashtag that we had when we started speaking out after the shooting," he says. "And unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It did happen again — thousands of times." Hogg went on to attend college at Harvard University, but he continued his work with March for Our Lives. He says one of the most important things he's learned through his advocacy is that it's not enough to point out why something is wrong — you also need t...

Though today's encounter is a close shave astronomically speaking, there's no chance that 2023 DZ2 will hit Earth on this pass. Indeed, astronomers are looking forward to the flyby, for it's a rare opportunity to learn more about relatively large asteroids. "While close approaches are a regular occurrence, one by an asteroid of this size (140-310 ft) happens only about once per decade, providing a unique opportunity for science," officials with NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office "Astronomers with the International Asteroid Warning Network are using this close approach to learn as much as possible about 2023 DZ2 in a short time period — good practice for #PlanetaryDefense in the future if a potential asteroid threat were ever discovered," they added in — — — Humanity does have tools at its disposal to deal with potentially hazardous asteroids.
