By Divya Bhati: Well, this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened. In a recent incident, a Flipkart customer placed an order for a laptop but never got the product. Instead, the delivery agent delivered a detergent soap. Flipkart has issued an official statement on the matter and said that the company has issued a refund to the customer. An IIM Ahmedabad student, Yashaswi Sharma, ordered a laptop for his father during the ongoing Flipkart Big Billion Days. But when the package was delivered, he received detergent bar soap instead of the laptop. Sharma took to social media to narrate the delivery scam story. In no time, Flipkart addressed the matter and issued a refund for the faulty order. “Flipkart as a customer-focused organization observes a zero-tolerance policy on all incidents that impact customer trust. It is of utmost importance to us to ensure the best possible online shopping experience for our customers,” a Flipkart Spokesperson told India Today Tech. Addressing the matter, the spokesperson said, “In this specific case that offered an Open Box Delivery option, the customer shared the OTP with the delivery executive without opening the package. Once the details of the incident were verified, our customer service team initiated a refund that will be credited within 3-4 working days. But Delhivery themselves would send messages to the phone number mentioned in the shipping address. If the number is not a landline number or if it can receive OTPs, then one can even directly on to the Delhivery website, using that number as the credential. . You would receive the login OTP from Delhivery. Thereafter you can raise tokens/tickets for everything from alternate contact number, address update/ deliver to neighbour .... to rescheduling requests, complaints about anything. . If local hub related complaint/ticket is raised then the e-mail is sent to that hub too. And within few hours or (if complaint raised after 2100 hours then) next day.. the Team Leader/ Operations in-charge of the nearest hum would themselves call you too. . Update: The story has been updated with Flipkart statement A Delhi man who ordered a laptop from ecommerce website Flipkart during the ongoing Big Billion Days Sale has claimed that the online retailer sent him packets of Ghadi detergent instead. In a LinkedIn post, Yashaswi Sharma said that he purchased a laptop for his father from Flipkart and instead of the laptop he received Ghadi detergent soap bars. Incidentally, both Amazon and Flipkart have 'Open Box' policy for electronics and other high-priced items. Wherein the delivery guy makes a video while the shopper opens the package. There's an OTP that is to be shared with the delivery person only after the customer is satisfied with the product he/she has received. In this case, Sharma claims that his father shared the OTP with the delivery agent without checking as he was not aware of the policy. "He assumed OTP was to be given upon receiving the package - as is usual for prepaid deliveries - so he gave it when the box was delivered," Sharma wrote in his LinkedIn post.
