Gwalior Airport History: Gwalior Airport is a civil enclave airport located at the Maharajpur Air Force Station which is at a distance of 10 Kilometers to the north-east of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. Madhya Pradesh okays new greenfield airport by acquiring 11,000 acres in Dewas

INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Government on Friday gave in-principle approval to develop a new greenfield airport of Indore by acquiring around 11,000 acres of land in Dewas district. "Initially, we had marked nine locations including in Dewas, Dhar and Ujjain but after examination, we shortlisted three places to propose developing an international airport with help of Airport Authority of India (AAI)" MP Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC's) MD Rohan Saxena said, adding that after its survey, AAI found a location near Chapada-Hatpipliya tehsil of Dewas district as most suitable for meeting its technical criteria including topography, wind direction, connectivity, water bodies etc. "MPIDC prepared a detailed report of mode of finance and the model of the proposed airport near Chapada-Hatpipliya tehsil as recommended by on AAI's recommendation" he said, adding that the chief secretary Iqbal Singh Bains today held a discussion over the report while Indore and Dewas collector along with Saxena joined it through video call. According to the MD, the state government, after the CS examined the report and discussed all the important points of it, on Friday gave in-principal approval for the project that will be named as the new greenfield airport of Indore.
