A legend associated with Namdev says that he as child once stood before Bhagavan Vitthal at Pandharpur to make sure that the food he offered was eaten by Bhagavan Vitthal. When the child stood adamant and did not move for hours, it is said that Lord Vitthal appeared before Namdev and ate the offering he made.

Sant Vitha was the holy son of Sant Namdev and he was born in a village in Maharashtra. Similar to his father, he concentrated his attention on Krishna Bhakti, and won the hearts of the villagers at his childhood itself. During his childhood he looked similar to child Krishna, and with his lovely smile, he attracted thousands of villagers. R E L A T E D • • • Vitha used to visit the Krishna temples along with his mother at the age of 6. He also performed well in his school, and invoked his class mates in the Krishna Bhakti. After leaving from the school, he used to perform Krishna puja at his home along with his classmates, and after the performance of the puja, he used to distribute the Prasad items to the school children. Similar to his father, he was also a great poet, and wrote lot of poems on Lord Krishna. He also used to sing songs in the Krishna temples, and due to his sincere bhakti, once he had the divine vision of Lord Krishna and Mata Rukmini in his home. During his life time, Vitha has visited Pandharpur for several times, and spread the Krishna Bhakti among the people. He also conducted divine discourses from topics like Bhagavatham and Vishnu Purana, and explained it in a simple and in an easily understandable manner to the people. Ramdev Jayanti: History and Significance As per the mythology, born to King Ajmal and Queen Mrinal Devi, Baba Ramdev was a ruler during the fourteenth century. He was known to be a kind ruler who’d use his miraculous powers to uplift the life of poor people. An ancient legend has it that five Pirs from Mecca visited Baba Ramdev to test his ability. Impressed by his magical powers, the five Pirs decided to stay back with him and also named him Rama Shah Peer. Baba Ramdev took Samadhi at the age of 33 on Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi at Ramdevra in Rajasthan. It has been said that in 1931, a temple complex structure was built around Bab Ramdev’s final resting place by Maharaja Ganga Singh. Gurpurab 2022 will be celeberated on 8 november 2022 .It is a Sikh religious festival. People living in Punjab and following the religion know that Gurpurab can mean any important event related to one of the ten Gurusand other important teachers whose teachings have been added to the Adi Granth, the holy book of the Sikhs. However, to the general public, Gurpurab mostly refers to the birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev. We will be talking about all the different Gurpurab or events (parv) of the teachers (gurus) that are observed by the Sikhs. It is interesting to note that a majority of these events do not fall on the same date of the western calendar. These fall on the marked days of the months of the Nanakshahi calendar. We will explore all these, and more, below. When exploring the different Sikh festivals, we can divide these into three major types. The first ones that are most commonly celebratedare the birthdays of the ten Gurus and the scriptures. The next type covers the death anniversaries of the ten Gurus, also known as Jyoti Jot Divas. R E L A T E D • • • Namadeva Maharaj, one of the prominent Hindu dharma propagators in Maharashtra and western parts of India, was left his physical abode and joined the Vaikunta on Krishna Paksha Trayodashi in Ashada Month as per the Marathi calendar. Born in 1270 A.D. to a calico printer/ tailor, Damshet and his wife Gonai, in the village of Narasi-Bamani in Hingoli district of Maharashtra was Sant Namdev. According to historical sources, Namadeva Maharaj was born on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi (Prabodhini Ekadashi) as per Marathi Calendar. Even Lord Pandurang is said to have swayed to his delivery tune of Kirtana through which he propagated Bhagawad Dharma right till the heart of Punjab. Soon after his birth the family shifted to Pandharpur where the much decorated temple of Lord Vitthal (Vithoba) stands. Fascinated by Vithoba’s benevolent response to child Naamadeva’s appeal for testifying his innocence in front of his parents, Naamadeva became the Lord’s unflinching devotee for life. Namdev was well known for his devotional songs and still now Vittal devotees, who undertakes holy pilgrimages to Pandharpur used to sing his divine songs on Lord Vithoba.
