Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale hospitalised, condition critical

Veteran film, television and stage actor Vikram Gokhale has been admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune following health complications. Gokhale’s family on Wednesday confirmed that the 77-year-old actor is critical. They shared with indianexpress.com, “He was doing ok a few days ago. Won’t say that he was fine as he has multiple health issues. He has been at the hospital for the last few days and was recovering too, but from yesterday he’s critical. We are waiting for the doctors to tell us about the way forward. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll tell us more, tell us what needs to be done. But he is critical, and that’s all we can say.” Actor Darshan Jariwala, who is a member of Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA), told On Wednesday evening, rumours surfaced online that Vikram Gokhale had passed away. However, Gokhale’s wife Vrushali dismissed the reports, saying the actor is still alive. She told TOI, “He slipped into coma yesterday afternoon and post that, he has not responded to touch. He is on ventilator. Doctors will decide tomorrow morning what to do, depending on whether he’s improving, sinking or still not responding.”

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passed away on Saturday following multi organ failure. The 77-year-old actor breathed his last at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, where he had been undergoing treatment since November 5. His remains will be taken to Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir and last rites will be performed at Vaikunth. “This is to confirm that Mr Vikram Gokhale passed away this afternoon. We would like to thank everyone for their good wishes, support and prayers through this difficult time,” his daughter said.
