WATCH: Haider Ali gets stumped in bizarre fashion after scoring 48

In a T20 Vitality Blast match between Birmingham Bears and Derbyshire, the Bears set a formidable target of 204 runs on Wednesday. The Derbyshire bowlers had a tough time containing the Bears' batsmen, with Zaman Khan being particularly expensive, conceding 44 runs in his four-over spell while managing to pick up just one wicket. Facing a challenging target, the Derbyshire Falcons got off to a fortunate start, but it was Luis Reece and Haider Ali who played superbly to forge a fifty-run opening partnership from just 33 balls. Their partnership laid the perfect foundation for the Falcons' innings. Unfortunately for Derbyshire, the partnership was broken in an untidy manner. Haider Ali, after scoring 48 runs, charged down the wicket but missed the delivery from Danny Briggs. The wicketkeeper, Alex Davies, initially missed the stumping opportunity but managed to complete it on the second attempt as the batter was stranded outside his crease. Haidar Ali

Haidar Ali Haidar Ali (1721-1782) was the Indian ruler of Mysore. He was the most formidable enemy of the British in their struggle for supremacy in South India. Born at Budikote in Mysore, Haidar Ali started his career as a soldier. In 1749 he was a petty officer in the Mysore army attending on the nizam, theoretically the Mogul deputy in South India. The nizam was assassinated in 1750, and in the ensuing confusion Haidar came by enough wealth to equip his own contingent and to distinguish himself in the service of Nanjraj, the new strong man of Mysore. Nanjraj's involvement in the Anglo-French contest for supremacy in India gave Haidar the opportunity to master the art of warfare and learn the value of European as compared to Indian military training. Under Nanjraj, Mysore went bankrupt. Haidar, known for efficient leadership, first rose to be Nanjraj's most trusted lieutenant and later replaced him as usurper. Some nobles, in conspiracy with the Marathas, almost ousted him, but because of developments in North India the Marathas withdrew, and Haidar recovered full control in 1761. By 1764 he had extended his sway northward well beyond the Tungabhadra. For the rest of his life, with his superior diplomacy and strong army, Haidar Ali struggled to retain or add to his possessions against the Marathas in the northwest and the British on the east and west coasts. The Marathas made four very damaging campaigns against Haidar. But after the death of their greatest leader, Madh...

Second D.C. man accused of posing as a federal agent pleads guilty

Prosecutors had charged that the pair managed to convince Secret Service agents assigned to the White House that they were legitimate DHS agents with their impersonation scheme — and labeled them a " Ali, 36, pleaded guilty to all of charges against him. The charges indicate that he and Taherzadeh were using the agents as part of a complex moneymaking scheme, not to gain access to national secrets. Haider Ali appeared virtually before Judge Michael Harvey on April 8. Bill Hennessy "It was a purpose of the conspiracy for Ali to ingratiate himself with members of federal law enforcement and the defense community," as well as "to enrich himself by obtaining property by fraudulent pretenses including through a false affiliation with the federal law enforcement community," according to a court filing outlining the scheme that Ali admitted to. Part of the scam included conning their way into multiple apartments and parking spaces at a Washington apartment complex while reassuring the landlord the federal government would pick up the tab. Federal prosecutors said the pair were also "lavishing gifts" on Secret Service agents, including "rent-free living." In court Wednesday, Ali maintained that he had been tricked, as well. He told U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly that when he first started working with Taherzadeh, he believed that Taherzadeh’s company, United States Special Police, was legitimately affiliated with DHS. He said he didn’t become aware of the scam until th...

The Fake Federal Agents Case Baffling US Intelligence Experts

Two weeks after FBI agents surged through a luxury apartment building in Washington, DC, and arrested two men who allegedly spent years pretending to be Homeland Security officers, the case continues to baffle even some of the nation’s most experienced counterintelligence experts. "I spoke with him at the T20 World Cup, and again during the Lanka Premier League, and he's so hungry to come to England and prove himself in all formats, that's exactly the attitude we want in our dressing room. Of course, he still has a lot of developing to do, but I've outlined what I expect from him and I have no doubt Haider will succeed in county cricket." "Mickey Arthur is such a respected figure in world cricket and he's still so highly regarded within the Pakistan set-up, so the opportunity to learn from him is one I'm so excited about... there's a lot of good players here and Mickey wants to achieve something big with this club. They had come together with Derbyshire heading for defeat at 17-4 after Dawid Malan's 106 guided Yorkshire to 353 and a lead of 242, despite spinner Mark Watt taking a career-best 5-83. But Du Plooy's 96 and Ali's 129 lifted the home side to 248 for four and a lead of six runs when bad light, followed by an electrical storm, ended play with 10 overs left in the day. Yorkshire had looked set for an even bigger lead until the dismissal of Malan sparked a collapse that saw the last five wickets fall for 28 runs. The England batter completed his second hundred of the season from 130 balls but when he failed to get enough on a lofted drive off Watt, Suranga Lakmal took off to his left at mid-off to hold a superb catch. Lakmal hurt his right elbow when he fell but was able to take the second new ball, although it was the spinners who did the damage. Dom Bess was bowled as he pushed out at Alex Thomson and after dispatching Watt for a big six over long-on, Jordan ...
